The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

The Swamp at The University of Florida!!! The loudest and toughest place to play, to anyone that has been there knows how loud that stadium gets!

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

There is a reason that Gameday has been here more than any other location; vertical walls reveberate the crowd noise making 90,000 fans sound like 200,000.  Throw in "The Swamp's" home record since 1990 (good for second best) and you will understand why only Gators get out alive!

Seriously though, my vote is going to South Bend... even when Notre Dame played like crap and lost to NAVY for the first time in 50 years... they were going nuts until the fat lady sang...

Common guys, this one is easy, take the Krazy's out of Duke's basketball gym... multiply them by 30, and stick em in the Rose Bowl

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

As tough as it was to select the players, this might be even tougher... so many stadiums to choose from and all have the amazing moments... having not been to many I will list, it is difficult to grasp the full effect of the atmosphere surrounding a college on game day, but here it goes...

From Happy Valley to Baton Rouge, the Horseshoe to the Big House, Norman to Athens, the Swamp to the Coliseum, maybe Autsen could be the setting or the sea of red in Lincoln... but when it is all said and done... Touchdown Jesus is the place to be...

Notre Dame is the location for a team of this magnitude...

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Great job again on this.  I hate to see the list starting to wind down, but it's also good to see this incredible list.  With that out of the way, I will have to cast my vote for Tiger Stadium at LSU.  It pains me to give props to anything LSU related, but I have never been in a more rowdy place in my life.  I mean rowdy in a good way, not like I was afraid for my life or anything.  If the fans in that stadium can trigger seismographs by cheering for their team, then that's where I have to cast my vote.  I have been in that stadium on a Saturday night before, and you can actually feel the stadium moving when the fans get going.

If you decide to go with a great place to tailgate, I'd throw my 2 cents in for the Grove at Ole Miss, but I'm a little biased on that opinion lol.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

LL, again well done. I have attended games in quite a few venues, the benefit of having grown up as a military brat whose father loved college sports. I have been to SEC games in Tuscaloosa, Gainesvillle, Auburn, & Baton Rouge. Pac10 games in Pullman, Seattle, LA, Corvallis, Berkley, & Eugene. MWC/WAC games in Provo, SLC, Laramie, Fort Collins, Boise, & Colorado Springs. Big 12 games in Lincoln, Boulder, and Iowa City.  Big 10 games in Colombus, University Park, and Ann Arbor.

I had a tough time deciding which I fealt had the best atmosphere and stadium.  Just from my personal experience, the best stadium and atmosphere was also the site of the biggest upset in College football history. Appalachian State vs. Michigan. I think you have to go with the Big House in Ann Arbor Michigan. 100,000 screaming fans dressed in the Maize & Gold. I am not a Big10 fan, but they can put on a good tailgate and an electric atmosphere inside the stadium.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Since this poll is about FBS teams predominantly, I will vote for Notre Dame Stadium. The shear history of the place is remarkable and then you add in a crisp autumn day in October or November and the atmosphere gets not much better than that. For a "homer" vote, I would like to mention Washington-Grizzly Stadium home of the Montana Grizzlies. If there is a better stadium/atmosphere in FCS football I would be shocked. All they do is keep having sell outs even after adding a couple thousand seats every 4-5 years. What started out as a 15,000 seat stadium is now up to 25,000. A new stadium record was just set this past weekend. A seat in the north endzone is to die for. Not a better atmosphere than in the middle of the "North End Zone Crazies".

A big thanks to Livin' Large for such a great thread. I know there is one vote left, but I needed to get my thank you in there. Also thanks to the few who have been in on the thread from the beginning(you know who you are). Without all of you this would not be possible.
