This is a spin off of DKM's Greatest Team of All-time. First I want to thank DKM for the awesome idea. I know many people (including myself) were sad to see his blog end, so I'm sure this will get great participation.
With your help, we will put together "The Greatest College Team" position by position. Only players who played in 1970 or later will be eligible. Each Tuesday we will begin voting on a new position; make your vote in bold. Feel free to elaborate on why you voted for the player you did. Please vote only once per position. I would request that we keep this a friendly blog and not go on with petty disagreements. If there is a tie both players will be listed.

This week we will vote for Inside (middle) Linebacker. Cast two votes for ILB's who graduated no earlier than 1970. I will add the votes each day although it may be later for some because I live on the west coast.

The Greatest College Team Needs ILBs!

Thanks King for the nice words about my posting. I wasn't sure what he and  Richard Wood for USC played back in the day, so I tried to rely on what I assumed what as an accurate site. I inhaled way too much back then to trust my altered mind. If it is determined that Robinson belong as an outside backer my vote in the alternative goes to Brian Bosworth. He couldn't act or play Pro Ball but he was a beast as a Sooner.

The Greatest College Team Needs ILBs!

Hi Yankee,
You always have a great post. I remember Jerry Robinson very well at UCLA. In spite of what the site may say, he played OLB. I am not trying to sound like a know-it-all. I am a longtime Husky fan and watched Robinson dominate for 4 years appearing about every other week on the "Pac-10 Game of the Week". Not that it really matters...I too agree that he is one of the greatest after 1970 and will be one of my top two OLB's.

The Greatest College Team Needs ILBs!

Since I had a brain fart and voted for a pre 1970 LB, ie Steve Kiner, my second vote goes to,

Brain Bosworth -- Oklahoma. Coolest mohawk ever.
