Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News talked to one baseball official (presumably not with the Yankees) who believes the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez.  That official sees the Yanks willing to offer three years, while other execs see them stopping at two years, $50MM.  Another source told Feinsand that Brian Cashman isn't keen on Manny but Hank and Hal Steinbrenner are.  Feinsand wonders whether the team's interest in Ramirez is one reason they've put the Mike Cameron trade on hold.

You'll find a differing point of view from Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff, who do not see the Yankees signing Manny.  By the way, Jon Heyman talked to a friend of Manny's who dismissed the idea of retirement.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Do you actually follow baseball ?????? How many teams have to go to the playoffs or win the series with little payrolls for you to see that signing big name players with huge contracts means NOTHING !!!!!!! Man the Devil Rays salary was so HUGE everyone saw them making the series.. Phillies too. Not to mention Rockies, whitesox, cubs, marlins etc in the past years.  Its this crazy thing called chemistry. Without it you suck.  You could have 1billion dollar payroll and it means crap without having the right guys at the right position.  Maybe you should watch a little more closely before you post crazy opinions.  GO YANKEES GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

manny is probably the one of the top 3 hitters in all of baseball (when he puts his mind and heart to it), but the way he played his way out of boston (and i hate boston, so i found it funny) was an embarassment to baseball. to reward him w/ a big money deal would be ashame. that being said, a line-up of: 1-damon (cf) 2- jeter - 3-cano  4- a-rod 5- manny (lf/dh) 6- jorge 7- matsui (lf/dh)  8 - nady 9 - swisher     would be very impressive. i think putting cano 3rd, in front of a-rod, will make him an mvp and batting champ candidate. he has tweaked his swing and should be in for a huge year.

Your comments do not make any sense at all! You are saying that every MLB team has the revenue to acquire good but expensive players, but they choose not to. Yes, as if every MLB team has their own YES network. How about taking some time to research your claims before you try to pass them off as fact. Not every MLB team is located in a major metropolitan city and not every MLB team has a ruthless owner as Steinbrenner. Love him or hate him, the man knows to run an Empire, albeit an evil one. Let's hope that neither of his stupid sons ruin the giant cash cow known as the Yankees. If I was one of the sons i'd let Cashman do his thing rather than tell him what to do. After all, if I don't trust Cashman's judgment why have him run the team. I say we make it a law that all sports owners are forbidden from meddling with their teams. Just how many owners have actually improved their team by being a nuisance. Convicted felons don't count since Mark Cuban will be going to jail soon for doing a "Martha Stewart"....ala perjury for evading insider trading.

Sign 'em all up!

Sign Manny, he'll murder the BoSux which is well worth his price! Sign Texiera too, he's the best free agent out there! And get Mike Cameron too! Johnny Damon has a wet noodle of an arm, and God-zilla Bless Matsui, but, he always gets injured! Kudos to my Yankees for their dedication to excellence!

true but you team was about to trade those player for the past couple of year ellsbury was almost gone and all so lowrie and other left pitcher but you didn't part way smart of you but your farm system doesn't win you championship all the time you still need other players around to make them better so stop saying your farm system win championship the rays made alot of trade last year (i remember you want santana last year like everyone else so what do you think about your farm system).Farm system are build to make trades you will never ever get 10 good players in the same decade that is going to be superstars for your team you luck to get 3 or 4. as for the rays them made alot of trade for pitching with the twin let see who they had that home grown crawford, upton and longoria that just three and rocco b he not important no more like i said or sorry price but not just yet shields but only two years in i don't count those shield and price just started but the other three are good longoria good but 1 year in came up short in the world series so stop saying home grown players get you championship it take more than that

What a fricking joke, I am a big baseball fan and sports fan in general but with the way the Yankees spend it truly is ruining the game of baseball.   They seriously need a salary cap and for those of you who say a cap in baseball isnt needed or might ruin whatever you think it may take a look at football and see why that is the greatest game in America.    Being in Minnesota and appreciating how well are team is ran but still realizing that they would have to have some career years from the Puntos, Gomez's etc to really have a shot at making a good run in the playoffs.  We dont have the luxury of having 7-8 potential all stars in the batting lineup each night.  Just my 2 cents.

GO VIKES, TWINS, WILD, I would like to include the Wolves but I dont see much hope in that organization.

Boston treated him like garbage?  I think it was the other way around.  He takes himself out of the lineup against tough opposing pitchers, gets into a scuffle w/ their clubhouse guy because he couldn't get his entire entourage tickets and then complains that nobody loves an aging player who's gotten paid pretty well over his career.

I'm a BoSox fan & Cubs fan & would love to see Manny in a Yankees uniform.  It would add to the dysfunctional mess that is the Yankees.  When Manny wants to play he's great as he was in the playoffs w/ the Dodgers this past year.  When Manny is pouting Manny he's probably, next to Barry Bonds, the most disruptive guy in the club house.

When Manny decides his leg hurts because he doesn't want to bat against a hard-throwing left hander that's a problem.  Manny needs to understand that he's in the late stages of his career and him wanting a 4-5 year deal @ A-Rod like numbers is probably why he's not signed and won't get signed except possibly by the Yankees.

There was a time when the Yankees mystique worked for them and now they just sign any baseball whore that's looking for a payday.  They even have to pay the New York premium for players having to deal w/ the circus like they did w/ C.C.

I enjoy when the Yankees keep adding to the payroll and teams like the D-Rays who have less than 1/5 the salary beat them out of the playoffs.
