Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News talked to one baseball official (presumably not with the Yankees) who believes the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez.  That official sees the Yanks willing to offer three years, while other execs see them stopping at two years, $50MM.  Another source told Feinsand that Brian Cashman isn't keen on Manny but Hank and Hal Steinbrenner are.  Feinsand wonders whether the team's interest in Ramirez is one reason they've put the Mike Cameron trade on hold.

You'll find a differing point of view from Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff, who do not see the Yankees signing Manny.  By the way, Jon Heyman talked to a friend of Manny's who dismissed the idea of retirement.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

So take your ball and go home.  Not sure about the Mets and Red Sux but if you take the percentage of revenue the Yankees earn compared to what they put towards salary and the numbers blow other teams away.  Insead of being angry at the Yanks, you should be angry at your teams owner for having deep pockets and short arms.  By the way, who gave AROD that contract 6 years ago.  Oh thats right it was the Rangers,  the Yankees have never set the bar when it came to salaries until Sabathia.  They did re-sign AROD but he makes the money back by puttting people in the seats.  If the Yanks signed Manny, he would do the same thing, remember he grew up across the bridge from Yankee stadium in Washington Heights.  Boston treats their players like crap, ie Garciaparra, Clemens (before the roid scandel) now latest victim was Manny, god help the Redsux if Manny is a Yankee. He will hit .500 against them.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

This is the perfect example of the meddling owner.......stay out of the way and let Cashman assemble the team.  If they want to talk to him about contract parameters, then fine......but let the baseball people make the baseball decisions.  If manny was not the utter headache that he is, I would absolutely love to sign him.  But I just can't justify bringing him in for 3 good months of behavior followed by slacking and jaking it for the duration of his contract.

the yankees can have him...and the soap opera that goes with him... make sure your traveling secratary has a body guard in case he cant get enough tickets to satisfy manny.   Make sure girardi has a giant eraser on his lineup pencil in case Manny "hurts his knee, or doesnt feel like playing today"  Boston got his best years and you are only fooling yourselves if you believe otherwise.  Where is he going to play in the New stadium?  he is an average outfielder at best.  the green monster helped him immensly.  GOOD LUCK AND IF YOU DO SIGN HIM YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LET US KNOW HOW THE BACKS OF OUR NEW UNI'S LOOK.

Treating him like garbage? Manny shoved an old guy down and hurt him because he didn't get something he wanted. Garbage? Manny is garbage, Boston did the right thing to get rid of this cancer.

I'm bored...

Next year's offseason headline "Yankees sign every player eligible for free agency after missing playoffs again".

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

If the Yankees go and get Manny , i am done with baseball. It has become obvious that this game isnt about dedication and loyalty anymore , it is about who can sign for the most money. The Yankees(and red sox, and mets etc...) have absolutely tarnished this game with their open pocket book. It makes for  the smaller financial teams hard to compete. I do realize that if the players dont get the money the owners do !! but i also believe that every team should be on the same playing field as far as salary cap is concerned!!!!!!!! Would make the game much more exciting if you knew that every team had the exact same chance at winning the world series. GO JAYS GO ??

I would love to see Manny wearing stripes.   He  would be a perfect three hitter in front of AROD.
