Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News talked to one baseball official (presumably not with the Yankees) who believes the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez.  That official sees the Yanks willing to offer three years, while other execs see them stopping at two years, $50MM.  Another source told Feinsand that Brian Cashman isn't keen on Manny but Hank and Hal Steinbrenner are.  Feinsand wonders whether the team's interest in Ramirez is one reason they've put the Mike Cameron trade on hold.

You'll find a differing point of view from Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff, who do not see the Yankees signing Manny.  By the way, Jon Heyman talked to a friend of Manny's who dismissed the idea of retirement.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Is there a possibilty Manny will end up in pin stirpes? "Sure.'" With the ticket sales starting at $250 at Yankee Stadium, compared to $15.00 at Dodger Stadium, it could be possible. This would be thanks to all the Yankee fans getting ripped off for their tickets they purchase. The Yankees could try to buy a championship, but they should consult with the Phillies, Cardinals, and Marlins on how to build a championship without spending a fortune! But to comment on that, the Dodgers wil resign Mannywood!

I Agree owners rather keep the cash then try to put together a winning team. The Yanks will spend  $ to try to to win don't be jealous because we have owners willing to spend.

Salaray caps are the stupidest thing I've ever heard.  The Yankees have money to spend on good ball players because they have they have ALWAYS been committed to excellence and have the best organization in professional sports.  Why do so many good ballplayer leave the Red Sox and make a b-line to the Yankees.  The Yanks know how to make good ballplayer GREAT ones.

So what do salary caps have to offer?  They don't offer a even playing field.  They reward mediocrecy.  Better ballplayer deserve more money than crappy ones.  Just like at work.  Promotions are earned.  Salary caps are like socialism.  Look what that's doen for some countries and medicine.  Stagnation.

Hard for the smaller financial teams to compete? Tampa Bay and Milwuakee may argue with that.  Where was Tampa Bay picked to finish before the season started? A lot of your arguement stems from teams not having proper (or qualified) management in place, ie: baseball people.  Pirates, Reds and O's are getting better, but still are J.V. compared with the Cubs, Mets, Yanks, Red Sox, etc. $ has a lot to do with it, that's true. Do you want to punish a franchise for being successful, which leads to more revenue, which leads to higher salaries and the ability to sign high priced free agents, because the franchise is successsful, which leads to more revenue,...well, you get the picture.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

I am so sick of here about the yankees it would be one thing if they built there team through fram system but all they do is got out and by championships. I hope all get manny and he becomes the same old manny and wrecks the yankees. Ever since yall bought cheater Giambi and then A FRAD the yankees can't do nothing. So Kepp blowing your money on old players and fall father out of the world series. Hey who knows maybe you can beat the Chicogo cubs streak of not winning the world series. That would be awsome.

Oh for Chrissakes!!!  This deal makes so little sense that its perfect for the Spankees.  They've got so many overpaid and underproductive types, why in HELL would they want Manny too?  Dudes the biggest malingerer this side of, well, AJ Burnett.  See what I mean?  I know Manny's got a little success hitting in the Bronx, but he's got more baggage than a 747.  And as I stated just yesterday, Burnett will never again  match last years numbers. Same goes double for Ramirez.  No coincedance both had career years during their walk years.  Thats what a loafer does.  Accomplish just enough to get paid so they can get back to what they're REALLY good at--slacking.
Go ahead and jump on me Yankee fans.  Biggest laugh is on you.  Management knows you guys are all about big name players.  Production comes in a distant second.  As long as the fans and the media have something to talk about, thats all that matters to them.  Too bad you're all so blissful in your ignorance to catch that point...

I think the yanks & red sox should play 162 games against each other & leave mlb to the rest of the league.A few more years like this & their will be no more league, these small teams will just fold due to disgusted fans that will stop supporting them...
