Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News talked to one baseball official (presumably not with the Yankees) who believes the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez.  That official sees the Yanks willing to offer three years, while other execs see them stopping at two years, $50MM.  Another source told Feinsand that Brian Cashman isn't keen on Manny but Hank and Hal Steinbrenner are.  Feinsand wonders whether the team's interest in Ramirez is one reason they've put the Mike Cameron trade on hold.

You'll find a differing point of view from Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff, who do not see the Yankees signing Manny.  By the way, Jon Heyman talked to a friend of Manny's who dismissed the idea of retirement.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Stop crying. Every team has a chance to improve their team. Some owners put the money in their pockets, while others put it back into the team. If someone want's to sign every FA, they should be able to do it.  I hope they sign not only Manny, but they sign Tex, Lowe, and Sheets.

First i hate the yankees.

Ramirez was never a cancer in cleveland.    He was loved here and still is.  He shouid be loved in Boston as well. He was a big part of their two world championship teams.

Yeah hes aloof.  Yeah hes not the best outfielder or baserunner.  But does anyone have more fun than Manny playing ball?  Ask yourself this who would you rather see coming up to bat with the game on the line A Rod or Manny?

In the clutch A Rod is at the plate going, we're down by one, runner on second, two outs and a full count, Im a .187 hitter in this situation.  Whooosh strike three

In the same situation Manny is going I like pizza there is a girl in a tube top.  Crack here comes the tying run.

O the tears are still going every time the yanks talk about signing someone people start with this is a shame the sport is a disgrace with the big contracts too much money, stop with this sh#t already grow up it is what it is. The yanks are doing what they feel needs to be done to win championships they are the most succesfull team in sports ever, other teams would love to be at that level and untill those teams win 20 more titles sell out almost every game and make more profit to offer larger contracts they will have to do what it takes to get there. This is still a business thats why we have pros playing the game.

Being a life long Yankee fan, it would be a huge mistake to sign Manny. He's a cancer. Everywhere he's been, he brings turmoil. He needs to go to a team where he is the the "superstar"  I'm with Cash, lets skip on Manny.

This is the typical response of losers to those who pursue excellence.  Socialism is sports is no substitute for excellence.  All sports are business enterprises; businesses are competitive.  There is no such thing as fairness in business when competing with other businesses.  Only small children would think everything in the world should be fair; it isnt and it will never be because nature is not fair.

Agreed, you forgot a couple of details;

The Yanks still have $40mil to spend just to break even with last year's payroll, not bad in these economic times, if you can do business this year ,for the same price as last year.  Also what are the owner's that receive the Yanks luxury tax money investing it in? Their teams.............NOOOOOOOOOO......

.....They are putting in their pockets. Final point, I believe the Met's set the market last year for Free Agent Pitching........Young......Left Handed.........Starting Pitcher.....his name is Santana, didn't he receive about 160mil? Of course there going after Manny, they have to replace Giambis' and Abreaus' Offensive numbers, anybody know what their combined salaries were? I don't recall but I believe it will be inside $40mil.

Treated him like garbage? The only payed him 140 million for 7 years. Put up with his half hearted play when he was unhappy. The Yankees can have him!

No, the Boston Red Sox didn't treat Manny like garbage, Manny treated the Red Sox like garbage.

I'm sure he'd be happy to treat the Yankees like garbage too.

Good luck!
