Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News talked to one baseball official (presumably not with the Yankees) who believes the Yankees are "going hard" after Manny Ramirez.  That official sees the Yanks willing to offer three years, while other execs see them stopping at two years, $50MM.  Another source told Feinsand that Brian Cashman isn't keen on Manny but Hank and Hal Steinbrenner are.  Feinsand wonders whether the team's interest in Ramirez is one reason they've put the Mike Cameron trade on hold.

You'll find a differing point of view from Joel Sherman and Ken Davidoff, who do not see the Yankees signing Manny.  By the way, Jon Heyman talked to a friend of Manny's who dismissed the idea of retirement.

If $20 per year is being treated like garbage sign me up.  He received special treatment from Boston until this year.  When you beat up a 60 yo you cross the line.  Manny will produce big for a year or so and then start pulling the same crap.  That is why no one will go beyond three years.

Paid 160 mil, adored by fans and management put up with his garbage until he flat out quit.  He was treated terrible. It would be fun to see Giardi have a melt down dealing with him.

Yankees Going Hard After Manny?

Um... yes these teams built a bankroll from a large amount of history... but hello... you said give others a chance... did we not just have a Philly vs TB World Series... Did Boston not face the ROCKIES last year... The Yankees ( and I am a Yankee fan) haven't seen a WS since 2003... The Mets... since 2000...

Haven't we learned that this game is awesome BECAUSE anyone wins on any given night...

Your team can go out and sign players and pay them as much as they want to, they choose not to. Don't bash the Yanks instead bash the owner of your team.  Yanks make a ton of money because Steinbrenner is one hell of a businessman who turned the Yankees into a money making machine. He doesn't pocket the money like many other owners do he puts it all back into his team because he wants to win.  Of course some seats at Yankee Stadium go for $450 a pop but hey thats what you pay to see the stars. It's reality so deal with it.
