Guzman, 28, was diagnosed with a significant ligament tear near his armpit and instability in the shoulder. He will visit Dr. James Andrews before making his decision to go through with the surgery.

The right-hander debuted with the Cubs in 2006 and was 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA, while striking out 47 in 61 innings last season. The Venezuela native is 3-10 with a  4.82 ERA in his career.
