Hello Everyone and welcome to the Izzone!  We are near the end of the Greatest Baseball Player of all time.  This round marks the final four!  Hank Aaron won 6-2, Cy Young upset Willie Mays 5-3. Nolan Ryan also upset Ted Williams 5-3, and Babe Ruth pitched a shutout against Mickey Mantle.  Once again I will only vote if there is a tie.  Here are the matchups for this round:

1 Hank Aaron vs.  5 Cy Young

2 Babe Ruth vs.  6 Nolan Ryan

This round promisses to be a thrill.   Please spread the word!

Hammerin' Hank not final material?  If baseball revolves around stats, you better check Henry's out very closely.

This is the first time I've been on this blog. I'm surprised that this is the "final four." I think Ruth should be here, but the others aren't "final" material, IHMO.

Great blog, wish I had known of it earlier.

Hank Aaron    His record speaks for itself. He could do it all on the baseball field. He would not have made my final 4 but he wins this match up. Pitchers way back had a huge advantage over the hitters. The ballparks were huge and the baseballs were soft. His amount of wins of course will never be touched nor will his loss total. Both Walter Johnson and Christy Matthewson probably had better stuff than he did.

Babe Ruth   This blog as far as I am concerned could have been for the 2nd best player ever. He hit more home runs than entire teams did in a season. He was not just a fat man who could hit homers as many seem to think. He could run especially when younger. His lifetime BA is amazing, better than Ted Williams at .344. Before he became an outfielder he was considered the best left handed pitcher of his time.  Ryan is not even one of the 10 best pitchers ever. Best strikeout pitcher yes that should not be enough to have gotten him this far.
