Finally the moment we have all been waiting for, The Finals! Last round was very tight.  Here are the final tallies Hank Aaron 7 Cy Young 6 and in the other matchup Babe Ruth 9 Nolan Ryan 4.  Without futher ado here are the finals:

1 Hank Aaron

vs.

2 Babe Ruth

Once again I will not vote unless there is a tie.

Voting ends on October 10

Good pitching will always trump good hitting.

with that being said,  most people like to see hitters and are bored with a great pitching game.

Of the two hitters left although Arron has the record and was great, my vote goes to Ruth!

Here why:

Batting Avg to Ruth, .342 to .305

Slugging to Ruth, .690 to .555

Walks to Ruth, 2062 to 1402

Arron had only 900 more hits that Ruth with 4000 more at bat than Ruth.

Ruth (1914-35) had more production than Arron (1954 -75) with the group of better pitchers.

Ruth saw - Walter Johnson, P. Alexander, L. Grove,  C. Mathewson.

Arron saw - W. Spahn, Sutton, Ryan, Seaver,  Niekro, Perry

although both faced awesome pitchers the group Ruth faced are at the top of the all-time leader board.

my Two Cents

This is a great finals matchup.  I'm sorry I missed the earlier rounds.  I will have to cast my vote for Babe Ruth.  After all these years, he is still considered one of the greatest even after his records fell.  Aaron was great also, but I think longevity helped him toward the home run record.  Babe was also a very good pitcher.

Hammerin Hank. The pressure that he was under with all the racism around makes him just a phenomenal player.

2nd > 3rd

MSU I am sorry i  missed the first rounds. You have come up with a great finals though. A tough choice as should be expected. Hank Aaron was a great pwer hitter and could play the field. Babe Ruth hit more homeruns than any other player in the same amount of at bats. Had he played for 22 years the record would be untouchable. He was also a great pitcher. So i will have to cast my vote for the Babe.
