The Greatest Baseball Player of All Time

Going through everyone's responses, I have to say the Yanks and Red Sox have been blessed with great talent and phenomenal players throughout their respective histories.....'specially the Yanks.

Ruth

Aaron
Gehrig
Ted Williams

If Mantle or Griffey were not beset by injuries thay would be on my list. Ask me in 5 years and A Rod will be on it.

The Greatest Baseball Player of All Time

This was really tough......and I'm still not sure at all (pro baseball has over 100 years of history to go through to really give an honest answer), but this is what I came up with in no particular order....

Babe Ruth

Ted Williams

Cy Young

Alex Rodriguez (as much as it pains me)

Lou Gehrig

I also was thinking it would be interesting to see where a guy like Josh Gibson might have ended up had he not been barred from MLB by the collective stupidity of our society back then.

The Greatest Baseball Player of All Time

I do not follow baseball and do not know enough to make a credible list.

I do recognize a few of the names.

I think this is a great blog. Keep it up!

GO STATE!

The Greatest Baseball Player of All Time

In no particular order here:

  • Ted Williams  -A "man among men", he was a tremndous skilled guy at watever he turned his hand to, baseball, an ace pilot, and even a hall-of-fame fly fisherman.  Oh, and I think he might just have been the best all-around hitter the game has seen.   All those years missed to military service in his prime, too...
  • Babe Ruth  -Not much has to be said here.  Now we have creatine, andro, and protein suppliments.  Ruth had hotdogs, booze, and cigars playing with dead balls and lead heavy bats..  The home run was essntially a non-factor before he came on the scene.
  • Ken Griffy, Jr.  -Ah, what might have been...   But still one of the most talented guys to have played the game, IMO...
  • Nolen Ryan  -Only re-wrote a good deal of the modern day record book for pitchers.  His strike-out record may never be touched.
  • Hank Aaron  -A true gentleman who was a model of consistency throughout his illustrious career, who is still the Home-run King IMO...
