Welcome to The Bakery!  For those of you who participated in previous rounds, welcome back!  To those of you here for the first time, we are deciding the title of "Greatest Keyboardist Ever - As Chosen By The Members Of The CBS Sportsline Community."  A big thank you to everyone who participated in previous rounds!  To see the Round 2 blog, click here:

In Round 2, there were two upsets according to the seedings, but there were also several clear victors and even one "shutout."  Here are the results.  Winners are in bold, seeding is in parenthesis, and votes received are enclosed in brackets:

(1) Rick Wakeman [14] vs. (16) Richard Wright [0]

(8) Al Kooper [2] vs. (9) Jerry Lee Lewis [12]

(5) Elton John [9] vs. (12) Tony Banks [5]

(4) Ray Manzarek [6] vs. (20) Billy Joel [8]

(6) Herbie Hancock [10] vs. (11) Billy Preston [4]

(3) Keith Emerson [11] vs. (14) Chick Corea [3]

(10) Steve Winwood [12] vs. (26) George Gershwin [2]

(2) Stevie Wonder [9] vs. (15) Ray Charles [5]

Here are the Round 3 (Quarterfinal) matchups:

(1) Rick Wakeman vs. (9) Jerry Lee Lewis

(5) Elton John vs. (20) Billy Joel

(6) Herbie Hancock vs. (3) Keith Emerson

(10) Steve Winwood vs. (2) Stevie Wonder

Note: This tournament is set up "March Madness Style" as opposed to, say, "Stanley Cup Playoff Style."  This means that the above matchups should be envisioned as if in a bracket and the best seed remaining does not necessarily play the worst seed remaining.

Once again, I will only vote if there is a tie.  Voting for the Quarterfinals (Round 3) will close on Monday, July 21, at 11 AM EST.

Happy Posting!

BigRollTide I am also a Wakeman fan!  Although I have never heard YesSongs, I own all of Yes' studio albums up through 90125, and I  also believe that Wakeman is one of the best keysman rock has to offer - maybe that's why he got the #1 seed in this competition - everyone else thinks so too!

Wakeman, John, Hancock, Wonder

Basically, to me, there's Wakeman, and everybody else.  None comes close to what he could do duing those early Yes years.  Just listen to YesSongs (live album) and you'll be convinced.

I will give it a shot when I return from Summer Camp with the Boy Scouts and I will see if I can add music samples to the survey to vote on.

Here is an attempt at a Bob James piece.

-I'd third that motion, MM.  The voter turnout might be reletively small, but they would be passionate, and know what their taking about, I'll bet
