Obviously, it's a pretty big day today in the NBA as the trade deadline approaches (3 p.m. EST). Fantasy owners know that this is a big swing day in terms of Fantasy value.

Many players will be getting a big Fantasy boost, others will be taking a Fantasy hit. Whatever happens, though, we've got you covered.

As you can see if you blow up my new avatar, I'm ready to go. I've got my energy drink and my eyes and ears on every possible news outlet. Speaking of which, if you haven't already, cue up Ken Berger's blog . The guy has all the latest news and does a bang up job of covering the entire league and that's not just because he works for us. Anyone who has read his stuff knows what I am talking about, so go check it out for yourself today.

I'll continue to update this blog today as stuff goes down. The plan today is to get all of the relevant updates out as soon as possible, but I will also give you my two cents on every deal here. I will also be doing a deadline edition of the Waiver Wire tonight after the deadline, so make sure to look for that also.

Should be a fun day ...

UPDATE - 12:12 p.m. EST: We have our first deal of the day.'s Ken Berger has learned (told you this guy is on his game) that the Timberwolves have succeeded in trading Rashad McCants, sending him to Sacramento with Calvin Booth in exchange for Bobby Brown and Shelden Williams.

This one does not have much Fantasy appeal as it is mainly just some economic maneuvering by both sides, swapping backups in the deal. McCants -- mainly just a scorer -- will find it hard to see many shot attempts with Kevin Martin on the team. He could attempt to develop a niche at the three, but Andres Nocioni and Francisco Garcia are much more complete players than he is.

There could be a minor boost for Williams, as the team has a void to fill in the front court with Al Jefferson out for the season, but he's only worth a flier in the deepest of leagues at this point. He will play behind Ryan Gomes and Kevin Love.

UPDATE - 2:17 p.m. EST: The Chicago Tribune reports that the Bulls traded Larry Hughes to the Knicks for Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Anthony Roberson.

This is hardly a blockbuster, but it is great news for anyone who has Hughes stashed away on the bench. In fact, there probably couldn't have been a better deal made for his Fantasy value. The Knicks have been looking for a true shooting guard to replace Jamal Crawford and Hughes will get a chance to fill that role for a team that averages 105.2 points per game. Take a flier on him in leagues of 12-plus teams where roster space is available.

As for Thomas, coach Vinny Del Negro says that he should be able to help the team, but that likely will come as a role player off the bench. Under an hour to go until the trade deadline and while there is some talk of a Shaq-to-Cleveland deal, it does not see like a blockbuster will get done.

UPDATE - 3:40 p.m. EST: Go pick up Aaron Brooks before you read the rest of this post. Done? OK. The deadline seemed to come and go without any major deals getting done, and for the most part it did.

However, a three-team deal was sneaked in right at the deadline that involved Rafer Alston going to the Magic to fill the Jameer Nelson void. Anthony Johnson just wasn't cutting it.

The Rockets get Kyle Lowry from Memphis and Brian Cook from Orlando in the deal while Memphis got a draft pick. Brooks becomes Houston's starter at the point for the time being and while Lowry has some talent and could press him, Brooks is the man to own right now. Brooks scored 23 points with three assists just three games ago playing just 26 minutes. His minutes should go up and so too should the assists. Take a flier on him right now if you have the chance.

Im looking for the Heat to make another move to add depth at the point guard position. After watching last night's disappointing loss to the TWolves I still expect big improvement from the Heat in the O'Neal trade. The player the trade is going to impact the most is Haslem who will be ignored with the big fella in the middle.

Can't wait to see what other trades go down today

In non-NBA trade deadline news, the CBSSports+ basketball team is considering trading their chubby backup center for an Fudgy the Whale ice cream cake ... Would he be able to nullify such a trade if he ate the whole thing himself?Damn - I knew Woodruff was struggling...but only an ice cream cake for him?  I'd at least like to get a bag of practice balls in the deal...Wink

Our OTHER, not so skinny, center is a rebounding machine.  But maybe the Hornets will trade us Chandler for him?!?!  Since he will only cost the Hornets a new jersey (XXL please!) and a spot at the post-game buffet...

Looking forward to seeing your takes on today's action -- non-action.

Btw, I wish the Tyson Chandler deal was rejected sooner, so he would have played against the Magic, and my Dwight Howard wouldn't have mailed it in. What's New Orleans going to do now? Is Chandler the type of person to be pissy and not work his ass off for the Hornets after they tried to trade him?

Lets hope today is not all hype. I have read about so many rumors and not much action. Being a long time Celts fan, i would love for us to pull in another guard or forward to help our bench out. I do NOT want Marbury. Yes he has talent but i would hate for someone to come in and possibly wreck havoc in the locker room. Anyway, today should be interesting. Go C's and GFY!

Can't wait Serge!  Did you intentionally photoshop out the box of donuts?  Or did they not make it long enough to be in the photoshoot?

I just hope everyone doesn't keep rescinding their trades and this isn't as big a letdown as other sports' trade deadlines seem to be (Baseball, I'm talking to you!).
