Okay, I did one of these a while back at the beginning of the season, now I am doing it again. Playoffs.

Post your thoughts on the playoffs here.

I think Boston will go for the East. No Eastern team is really playing with them right now.

West, It will be one of three teams.

Sharks. They have lead the for most of the season, but with Nabby out (im not sure how long) will that kill them and their leaauge low goals against?

Red Wings. They have been on the SHarks heels all season and finally broke into the lead of the west and NHL a few weeks ago and are now tied with SJ for top spot in West and the NHL. They did this without Holmstrom for a good chunk of the year and kep it with Hossa and Franzen out. My only questions for them, like the sharks, can their goaltending keep doing well. Will Holmstrom being infront of the net again open up scoring for Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Hossa?

Blue Jackets. They have finally found that Vital missing spot between the pipes. Can Mason keep his head in the playoffs and can their offence produce the goals needed like they have been?

I am picking the Red wings because of their offence and 30 to 40 shots a game, but If they come across Columbus, that will be a close searies.

After seeing Ozzie play sunday against teh Jackets, I must say he is getting back to his old game. He played a magnificent game turning back all 23 ( I believe it was 23) shots. I still think it will be the Wings and either the Sharks or the Jackets in the WCF.

As a Bruins fan I hope the Bruins represent the East in the finals.  However, I am scared to death of the Devils.  Broduer is rested, healthy, and on fire.  Everyone knows goaltending is the biggest key in the playoffs.  Thomas is good but Broduer obviously gets the edge.  Especially the way he came back from the injury in apparent tip-top shape.  Washington will be dangerous but I don't beleive theodore can string together enough solid games in a row to carry Washington all they way.

As for the West, I think it is a two team race between Detroit and Calgary.  Calgary sent notice to the leugue at the deadline and the moves appear to be working.  Plus, to refer to my earlier point, Kiprosoff has the edge over either of the Wings goalies in my mind.  Osgood has proven he can lead a team to a cup but appears somewhat off this year.  I don't think the Sharks have the killer instinct to make it through four rounds and the Jackets may get through the first round on Mason's back but four rounds is doubtful.

I did forget to mention that I really do not follow the East very much. That was simply based on a quick glance of the records. But anyhoo thanks for the inputs.

agreed, as of rightnow, no one in the East is playing better than the caps or devils. Devils also have 2 games on the Bruins and have the same amount of wins as Boston

I agree with you about the West.  Detroit is the cream of the crop (obviously I am a little biased though) but their goaltending of late has been terrible. I just hope they don't run into the Predators or the Blue Jackets because they seem to be their kryptonite

I completely disagree about the East with you.  The Bruins are sliding right now (3-6-1 in their last ten), while other teams are gaining ground.  The Devils have what you need to make a run in the playoffs, experience and goaltending. Martin Brodeur is as good as it gets as always.  I can also see the Capitals, Flyers or Penguins making a run through the playoffs because they have so much young talent and they are all starting to get the toughness needed to make that push.

go Wings

i guess you don't watch hockey too much. Boston has been doing awful, saying that no one is at their level is ridiculous.

I agree with you that the Red Wings will get the West, but I disagree that their goaltending needs to "keep doing well."  Their goaltending needs to START doing well.  Both Osgood and Conklin have had some POOR starts lately.  They need to get it together if they want to repeat as Cup champs.

Great write up moonspell!
