AIG, Obama, and Plot to Take Change America?

AIG, where do I begin.  I had a lot to say about AIG and the bonuses originally.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized there is no way possible, that these bonuses were a surprise to Washington.  It is simply beyond comprehension that Obama, Geithner, no one, looked into AIG's contracts before issuing  billions more tax payer dollars.  This was a calculated ploy to serve the purpose of a larger agenda.

The latest bailout is issued, with Washington now consuming about 80% of AIG stock.  I would say the tax payer, but we all know you and I have no stock in AIG, so we say Washington.  This comes at roughly the end of the first quarter, a time when bonuses are paid out.  The money comes in and AIG moves to pay out it's $160,000,000 in contractually bound bonuses.  All of a sudden the wheels come to a screeching halt.  There is Obama, Geithner, Como and dozens of others screaming about the outrage of this.

Whose surprised by this?  I am not.  AIG, a failed company is continuing it's failed practices.  But in doing so, breaking no terms of the bailout issued to them.  GM execs and the UAW had to restructure their contracts to receive bailout money.  Why was AIG different?  Because AIG is the worlds largest insurer.  Now the plot thickens.  Why could a democrat administration possibly be interested in AIG.  As mentioned, 80% is now under Washington control, and they want the other 20%.  Total seizure for AIG stock to run the company as they see fit.  And how would a Democrat led Washington run AIG?  The beginning of a social juggernaut that liberals have been preaching for for 30 years, and now have to opportunity to unleash.

The seeds of universal healthcare have already been planted.  AIG will serve as anchor to launch a far more compressive program.  And universal healthcare is only the beginning.  With the federal government seizing more and more power than ever before, we are now facing a massive redefinition of America.  With the new tax credit structure, we are looking at expanding the percent of the population that pays $0 in net income tax from 38% to 50%.  For the first time in U.S. History, we are going to be looking at a voting majority that does not have any financially vested interest in the running, maintenance or execution of the Federal Government.  I wonder what way that growing majority will vote?  Worse yet, the American people seem perfectly happy to surrender their freedoms and entrust all in the shrine of Obama.  The real legacy of Bush's failed presidency.  Wake up America, the rug is being pulled from under our feet, and once gone, it will never, ever be put back.

AIG, Obama, and Plot to Take Change America?

I would tend to agree that it was time to take the talking heads out of Washington and put poeple who have actually earned a living into such jobs, but it still is not time. We have made this journey before. Reagan asked for the line item veto and it was denied, as we still spend money out of Washington as if it was water. Bush sold his birth right and ended up increasing taxes rather than curtailing spending. If he could have starved the bloated Congress he would have had a second term. The .com bubble was in full force during Clinton's tenure, so he got the benefit of a bolstered economy, otherwise he would be another in a long list of forgettable presidents. Bush happened in at a time when we had our pants down and we were attacked for no good reason other than global envy.

Obama is the elected person of the yellow dog Democrats and the pull the wool over my eyes Republicans. Neither party really deserves to be placed as the leadership of this country, but we have to deal with reality. That is the way it is and the way it runs. Ron Paul is a dupe as well. He makes sounds like he has a real plan, but he is no more ready to face this crisis than Obama is. I don't mean this as a shot over your bow, but factually, Paul is no Messiah either. I am not sure if we have a politician with enough intestinal fortitude to answer the call of facing down our latest set of problems.

Without a defined leader, we should take control of our own destiny and reelect no one. Until we get rid of our porfessional political class, we will always be at the mercy of those who serve themselves first and the country second. That my dear Paul supporter is the true answer. I do not belittle you for your support of Paul, but in the long run I have to believe that you would be equally as disappointed.

regards

More evidencece that the Government knew full well of the AIG bonuses and the outrage by Obama/Geithner is manufactured propoganda, nothing more.

This weekend the Obama foot solidiers will be going door to door to drum up support for Obama's pork ladden budget.   Wonder if they will come to my door?

AIG, Obama, and Plot to Take Change America?

Brilliant post Scoop. If Barry had been a GOPer he would not have even made it past an exploratory committee. But, by being a Dem and having the backing if the likes of Oprah, and many other of the Hollywood elite the ground was laid for the true Fleecing of America. Much was made about the McCain's real estate holdings, but there was little if anything said about Barry's shady real estate deal with Rezco (sp) that I have heard was brokered by Gov Blago's wife.

I would like to reference a saying about a Pot and a Kettle, but I would be labeled a racist.

Actually I misspoke.  I meant to say Conrail in my reference to the federal government's failure to run a business, not Amtrak.  Still, I think you see my point.

Scoop Dawg, excellent point about Amtrak.  That is about the single best example of a failed business model.  But people are pointing to that same model to run Universal Healthcare, nationalized banks and reform our Auto Industry.   When Vladimir Putin of all people warms the U.S. about the Federal Government seizing too much power for our own good, we may want to take a step back and reevaluate things.

AIG, Obama, and Plot to Take Change America?

It's hard for me to comprehend what's going on here.  I get that the election of Barack Obama was nothing more than a protest vote against George W. Bush; and since W wasn't running, that protest spilled over to the Republican party in general.  I remain convinced that the Democrats could have nominated a cow to run for president and would probably have won.  Never mind that your average cow has about executive experience as Mr. Obama at the time.  The conspiracy theorist in me believes that McCain was nominated by the GOP as a sacrificial lamb.  They may have considered it a foregone conclusion that the Democrats were going to win the White House.  We'll take our lumps this year, but save our best candidates, like Huckabee, Jindal, Pawlenty, etc. for a future run.  I don't know if there's any validity to this.

I do know that this election was centered on feel-good politics and was heavily influenced by the mainstream media.  It felt good to have an African-American on a major party ticket.  It felt good to have a self-made man run for president.  His "hope for change" message felt good.  Why did it feel good?  Because rightly or wrongly, President Bush was blamed for everything that was wrong with this country.  Never mind the fact that Mr. Obama had never run or been in charge of anything.  He had never run a company, had never run a city or a state, had never commanded a military unit.  The man was never forced to make a hard decision about anything.  Never mind the fact that that trend continued after he won a legislative seat.  He still couldn't make a decision and "decided" to vote "present."  Never mind the fact that his past associations were at best dubious and at worst hateful and dangerous.  Never mind the fact that his wife, up until the time he was officially nominated, wasn't even proud to call herself an American.  Never mind the fact that we don't know anything about the man except what he wants us to know.  His birth certificate and college transcripts are classified.  My question is "why is his place of birth even a question?"  I find myself wondering, if were take Barack Obama's past and transplant it to a Republican candidate, would the outcome have been different?

The media went right along with this.  I realize I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said a thousand times on these message boards.  Obama says family members are off limits, and we don't hear any more about Michelle or the girls.  How much scrutiny did the Palin family endure?  Sarah's daughter was pregnant out of wedlock?  Sarah's qualifications to be vice-president are called into question.  Todd Palin accused of having an incestuous relationship with his daughter resulting in her pregnancy.  How long was that story in the news?  Heck the Palin family is STILL being dissected four months after election day.

The media had a love-affair with Obama from the start.  Every video teaser, still photo, and sound bite showed Mr. Obama to be calm, cool and collected.  This was true even during the democratic primaries.  Every time she saw or heard Hillary, she had a scowl on her face or voice was shrieking.  During the general election, the still photos of John McCain showed him to be confused or indifferent.  CNN had a link on it's website in which you could donate to the Obama campaign.  This whole thing smacks of the Manchurian Candidate.

Now that the Manchurian Candidate is in power, it looks as if he is learning on the job.  A guy that has never been forced to make a hard decision, now is in a position where he has to deal with North Koreans who are intent on beating the war drum, Iranians who are doing the same thing, Mexicans putting tariffs on American goods, and an increasingly hostile Russia.  He can't give an appropriate gift to the British PM, our closest ally without looking like he sent some staff flunkie to the Wal-Mart in Alexandria with a credit card.  How is he going to deal with the likes of Kim Jong Il, Vladimir Putin or Ahmedinijad?

The AIG thing?  They knew this was coming, I don't see it as any more than political posturing and a chance to bash Presdient Bush one more time.  Remember, Obama inherited this mess.  But as a result, we will soon have nationalized banks and nationalized health care.  The federal government has already proven  it can't run a business; I offer up Amtrak as Exhibit A.  I can't help but think that we're headed in a direction we don't want to go in.  There are dangers looming on the domestic and international horizons and all are extremely troubling.

AIG, Obama, and Plot to Take Change America?

You are onto something here.

These bonuses are simply compensation AIG contractually obigatated to make. Now is AIG stupid to compensate these people...yes. But it's water under the bridge by now, and they were stupid enough to run this company into the ground so why are we surprised.

Our current administration knew full well when the bailout was made that AIG will continue to have to honor their contracts....even those concerning compensation and bonuses.

They were not caught off guard here by AIG. They either knew full well it was coming or they are even dumber than I thought (more likely they knew) This is pure political posturing and it's patently obvious because they are all climbing over the top of each other to see who can express the most false outrage.

They knew this was coming, they did it anyway, and in the words of Rahm Emanual "we can't let this crisis go to waste"

All planned, so long as they can keep scaring us, the more they will advance their warped wealth resdistribution agenda.

Do not trust "Experts" they are the ones who got us here.......
