Farve to the Jets. What doe it mean for the East?

So what does this mean for the NFC East?  Is Farve the piece Mangini needs to return the Jets to the playoffs?  Maybe.  Farve is definitly on the decline, but he is still an above average QB, and don't underestimate his field presence.  This will at least for a season get them away from the failure that is Chad Pennington
The big question to be answered though is can Farve make the necessary adjustments at this stage of his career he needs to?  He can no longer live by the long ball, nor force a pass into tight coverege the way he used to.  A more conservative approach is needed to manage field position and clock, the recievers have the talent to make big plays.  In short, don't force it Farve.  Prediction is 10-6 as a wild card.  The Jets have a very farorable schedule, but this move alone will not surpass New England for the division.  But then again, anything can happen in the playoffs.

Farve to the Jets. What doe it mean for the East?

I know I might be in the minority here, but I think this was a GREAT move for the NY Jets.  The Jets for years have been behind the Giants in the NY market and finally they made great off-season moves that could put them on a level playing field with some of the lower seeded playoff teams. Here are the reasons.

1.  Favre brings an instant upgrade to a position that has needed upgrading for the past 10 years in NY.

2. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington will be instant successes with the running game, with a passer like Favre in the mix.

3.  This SHOULD propel Jericho Cotchery to Pro Bowl status.  However the rest of the recieving corps could hold the Jets down in the long run, unless Favre can make someone else a star.

4. Finally if the Jets are smart this should be a 2-3 year commitment with Favre, that way they can draft a QB and let Favre take him under his wing and learn from the best.  Favre in the NY market should also attract some quality free agents over the next couple of seasons.

Farve to the Jets. What doe it mean for the East?

This was the best move by far for the Jets!!! You put Bret Farve behind that line, he we have a better year than last, and add Thomas Jones in his second year at the Jets to take the presure off of Farve watch out for this team. This gives the team a chance to go to the playoffs, watch out for the Jets to go 10-6 second place in the division and a wildcard spot
