My NFL pre-season rankings.

These are my power rankings, I`m just trying to breathe some sense into this wild west show we seem to have going on, anyone see the rankings that Eagles fan made....
The NFL is wide open and I think any of the top 15 teams could win the Superbowl, probably one from the top 10 though.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers   -   They won the NFL championship and retained their star players they stay on top.
                                     And the Ben Rothlisberger thing will blow over in no time.

2. New England Patriots -   Tom Brady is back in town and no matter what people say he is going to be fine,
plus the rest of their team is better this year than last with Fred Taylor and Joey Galloway.

3. Philidelphia Eagles    -   They got better in the offseason only question and this is a big one is Brian Westbrook OK?
He is the silent superstar and if he is not right I don`t think they go anywhere.

4. Indianapolis Colts     -   Some people will disagree but I think they got much better in the offseason.
they had a great draft, I know Tony Dungy is gone but I think he is a better person than he is a football coach.
If you follow what they have done and what they intend to do you`ll feel either exitement or fear.

5. Arizona Cardinals      -   They ALMOST won the superbowl.
Only thing is I think they lost more than they gained In the offseason.
I love these guys I just wish I were more exited about them this year, but I just dont see them challenging.

6. San Diego Chargers  -    You just don`t know about these guys,
Shawn Merriman is back so I think the defense will be better.
LaDainian Tomlinson may have one more special year in him and Phillip Rivers Made Huge Strides this offseason.

7. Minnesota Vikings    -     Very solid foundation. Sage Rosenfels is underrated he always has been.
Adrian Peterson is unstoppable so with an average passing game I dare you to imagine.
My only question is the defensive backfield.

8. Tennesee Titans       -    I think they got worse in the offseason,
I like some of what they did but Haynesworth leaves a unfillable gap
Especially in a team that MUST controll the ball defensively to win. Kerry Collins isn`t getting any younger.

9. Atlanta Falcons         -    I dont know what to say about these guys but, Matt Ryan wow lets see it again
                                          This time with Tony Gonzalez.

10. Green Bay Packers  -    Aaron Rodgers is the real deal fire anyone who had to do with the 49ers taking Alex Smith,
They get the nod over the Saints just because I think the defense is better, they have a tough divisoin.

11. New Orleans Saints -     Drew Brees can will these guys to the playoffs.
But the defense needs to show us something, anything. They remind me of the Colts of yesteryear.

12. Dallas Cowboys      -      Well I for one think not having Terrel Owens makes these guys better,
Time for Roy Williams to show us what he is made of the Detroit excuse just won`t cut it.
                                        If I thought more of Wade Phillips these guys would be higher.

13. Houston Texans     -      I really like these guys they just keep getting better, no way they take the division but,
wildcard anyone? Even if the answer is no firing Gary Kubiak would be a big mistake.

14. New York Giants     -       Well they have some young talent at wideout which is good but I think they lost more than they gained In the offseason. They will be back I just don`t think it is going to be this season.

15.  Chicago Bears       -      Well Jay Cutler is really good but who is he going to throw too?
If they had a decent number 1 wideout they could be higher.
why let Berrian go why? Maybe the defense will revert to what they used to be.

16. Baltimore Ravens   -      Getting Derrick Mason back helps and if the defense is the same as it was then they may do better than last year even. I want to see it first though.

17. Miami Dolphins      -       They won`t win the division this year, and all those special offensive packages are not going to suprise anyone. I think they still need to find a long term QB before they can truly compete for the Superbowl.

18. Washington Redskins -   Well they always do get some impressive FA`s and then it doesn`t translate into wins I want to see Colt Brennan compete for the starting job Jason Campbell doesn`t seem to be cutting it.

19. Carolina Panthers   -       I don`t know why they are not better than they are but all I know is that they are not, a great running game cannot carry a team that chronically underperforms. I think it is time for John Fox to go.

20. Seattle Seahawks   -       Is Matt Hasselback washed up?
I don`t think so which means with Housh in the WR position they should be back to their old selves.
Last year everything seemed wrong but lets see them rebound before anyone gets excited.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars -     Maybe this will be a big bounce back year for them, then again maybe not.
Jack Del-Rio seems frustrated. Even an ageing Torry Holt helps legitamize the passing game.

22. Kansas City Chiefs   -     I think Matt Cassel is for real.
They are here only because they have to prove that they are for real first.
A weak division should help them with that.

23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Lots of questions for these guys, first and foremost does Brian Griese start?
I say yes and I think that makes them a threat to win the division.
But like everyone else they have somethings to prove.
Coaching Changes and the loss of Monet Kiffin brings them down.

24. San Francisco 49ers   -    Can Mike Singletary bring reason to the Bay? I`m going to say yes.
                                     I really think we`ll see improvment here, The defense is a bright spot.

25. New York Jets           -     I am not on the Mark Sanchez bandwagon,
Pete Carrol didn`t think he was ready and neither do I.
Good news is the rest of the team is pretty good.

26. Cincinnati Bengals   -      Is Carson Palmer healthy? They could be decent if they would just play to potential.

27. Clevland Browns       -      I think Eric Mangini will get these guys in shape eventually, but lots of issues here.
Whats wrong with Braylon Edwards? Will Either Derrick Anderson or Brady Quinn play well?
Have they learned how to sterilize the surgical instuments? Anthing left Jamaal Lewis?

28. Denver Broncos       -      Thats right they are BELOW the Browns, I don`t think Josh McDaniels was ready for this.
                                         The defense is terrible, I don`t expect more than 5 wins all season.

29. Buffalo Bills             -      Why get TO why? That makes little sense I think they are headed downhill,
                                          which is bad because they are allready below sealevel.

30. Oakland Raiders      -      Al Davis must be getting senile becuase nothing they have done makes any sense,
                                          they are going to be bad for a long time.

31. St. Louis Rams        -       Things are bad here, real bad.

32. Detroit Lions           -       Well Calvin Johnson is good.

My NFL pre-season rankings.

I like your rankings although I think this is a diluted view of the league. Like your post, many people are getting back to 2007, but I think a lot of teams have gotten better and others have lost a step or two.

IMO, I'd move the Patriots out of the Top 5. They have a good team, but nobody knows how Tom Brady can bounce back from the knee injury.

I also think you have the Ravens a little low. They have a solid defense and Joe Flacco gets Michael Oher to watch his back.

As a 49ers fan, I can see why you ranked them 24th. At 7-9 last year, I don't see them doing any worse. They play the Seahawks and Rams twice, also the Lions and a few other teams they should beat (on paper)... Maybe 5 spots lower but not much till they can prove something.

Also, I dont think the Texans and Cowboys should be up at #12 and #13. They should be in the later teens. IMO...

I liked your ranking for Denver. They will struggle under Mike Nolan's 3-4 defense. Without Jay Cutler their offense is much weaker, regardless of the Broncos' signing of Knowshon Moreno.

Overall nice mock; everyone has their own opinions, right?

My NFL pre-season rankings.

I'm a Packer fan through and through, but I've got to comment as an outsider looking at the Eagles. How do you not say that they've improved? They drafted McCoy and Maclin, which at a minimum, will upgrade their depth at RB & WR, if not greatly upgrade those positions if either play to their potential early. They also upgraded their OL with Andrews and Peters. They went to the NFC Championship Game last year and, my memory mind you, only lost Buckhalter and Dawkins as FA of significance. This team should be improved and deserves a spot in the top 5.

My NFL pre-season rankings.

My opinion:

I think then Super Bowl will be a 2 team race in the Pats and Steelers, as much as I hate to say it.  Every other team will just be spectating.

1. Steelers - Defense wins Championships
2. Pats - I hate 'em but damn that offense looks great
3. Colts - Never count out Peyton's team...even though I seem to have
4. Cardinals - A dangerous team in a lousy division.  Should have no problem going 6-0 out west
5. Giants - As a Bolts fan I HATE Elly, but they are stacked on both lines
6. Bears - Probably higher than they should be, but they do have the easiest schedule next year. Avg Opp. Record 6.6-9.4
7. Chargers - Hopefully splitting carries will equal a healthy season for LT
8. Eagles - Another year older, but that never stopped them before
9. Titans
10. Redskins
11. Saints
12. Dolphins
13. Jaguars
14. Panthers - They always surprise me
15. Raiders - All those early draft picks have to boost the team eventually
16. Cowboys - The pressure's on Romo, and we all know how he does under pressure
17. Vikings - Once they settle their QB situation, they'll move up
18. Packers - I do believe in the sophomore slump
19. Texans - Everyone's high on the TXns, but why I'll never understand
20. Falcons - Ryan in his sophomore year + Turner over 370 carries = Let down season
21. Bucs - can't name a player on this team
22. Ravens - Flacco can't possibly live up to his freshman stats
23. Seahawks
24. Broncos - New Coach, New QB, Bad news
25. Bills
26. 49ers
27. Jets
27. Bengals
28. Browns
30. KC - <see Broncos>.  All Cassel did last year was succeed with the game's best receivers, O-Line, and one of the best D's.  Even if he is great, the KC defense is still too big of an anchor.
31. Rams
32. Lions

My NFL pre-season rankings.

the only thing i dont like about these rankings are the vikings at #7. i think they're good but not that good maybe a possible wild card contender but i really think that the nfc north race will be between the packers and the bears

how the he11 are vikings not better than the packers and the bears?!!? tell me what the bears or the packers have that the vikings dont.
the only possible answer is qb and cutler is yet to anything truly special.
Aaron rodgers is good. ill give u that. but hes the only one on that team with any of it. most of there players are old.
rosenfels will start this year and do great. hes been under the radar his whole life and with berrian/harvin/wade/possibly harrison.. he'll have a great WR core to work with. plus All Day will force teams to need at least a seventh man in the box if not sometimes an 8th.
vikings win the nfc north convincingly, AP breaks 2000 yards.

vikings  11- 5
bears- 9-7
packers    7-9 / 8-8
detroit   6-10

My NFL pre-season rankings.

1.     &nb
sp; Dolphins- Dolphins won the AFC East Title and only have gotten better then last year, they have been underrated

2.
;
Ravens – I think the core of the team is still intact, and I’ve seen enough of Flacco to think he’s the real deal and will get better – not sure they get to the AFC championship game, but they are a playoff team

3.
;
Giants – they can still pressure the QB and run the ball – you have them in middle of the pack, I think they should be top 10

4.
;
Panthers – I know Jake can have some horrible games, but this is a solid team and I like their two running backs as much as any tandem in football

5.
;
Bengals – You’re right, Palmer’s health is a key, but this team should be much better on defense and I think  a winning season is possible – WRs are suddenly an area of concern

6.
;
Jags – I actually struggled as to who I put 5th here, but I don’t think the Jags of two years ago was a fluke and if Gerrard gets back to mistake free football, a wildcard if possible

Overvalued –

1.
;
Eagles – I agree they should be a playoff contender, but this team is too streaky to be put at #3.  McNabb is not any younger and I think Dawkins was a big part of the defenses aggressiveness.  Also, I’m always skeptical until I see new faces all blend in as expected.  They’ll be good, but   I think there are safer bets for number 3

2.
;
Falcons – I think they we helped by an easy schedule last year, and were able to surprise teams.  We’ll l find out this year, but I think they take a step back – BTW, they need Roddy White

3.
;
Vikings – This could be a great team with the right QB, but with Travaris and Sage, I can’t put them at number 7

4.
;
Packers – I just don’t think they are any better than last year – I agree Rodgers if for real, but I think they are the third best team in their division and 8-8 is in the cards

5.
;
Texans – They seem to be a lot of peoples up and coming team – I heard that last year too, they seem to finish strong every year and then disappoint early the next year – I’m expecting that again this year

My NFL pre-season rankings.

i agree almost 100% with these rankings. only thing i can think of is possibly switching patriots and steelers but whatever doesnt bother me. the only thing i dont like about these rankings are the vikings at #7. i think they're good but not that good maybe a possible wild card contender but i really think that the nfc north race will be between the packers and the bears. also you are absolutly correct on tom brady. hell be fine only haters believe he wont be becuase they want him and the patriots to do poorly. other then that these are one of the best power rankings ive seen so far.

My NFL pre-season rankings.

It won`t take Tom Brady that long to get back to form, I don`t like the Patriots but it is Tom Brady.

The Eagles I think mainly made gains in the form of their young players getting stronger.
They have a better looking recieving core than they have in years with Desean Jackson and Brent Celek improving.

Looking back I may have ranked them higher than they deserved.

I also edited the post to fix the formatting.
