What the Mets need...and what we think they need.

I'll start of with a closer....To be honest with you yes we need to upgrade here...Billy Wagner is starting to wear down and has some injury issues...I think we should give a try at K-Rod...But if we can't get K-Rod look at Fuentes or Lyon and make Billy Wagner the Set-Up guy..

Next is a left fielder...A lot of people disagree with me on this one....But i think we need a new left fielder...Try after Matt Halladay or Adam Dunn...or maybe even Manny...I don't like the thoughts of Manny coming to the Mets though due to his personality issues....I'm just trying to say that i think in the future we should put Murphy at second..Then mix in Evans or Tatis somewhere...But i don't think those two are good enough to start in left for us..

A starting pitcher?  This is the one spot where i don't think we need to improve....We need to resign Oliver Perez...And bring up Jon Niese...Pedro is almost done guys...So Niese can fill his spot...Then our rotation will be Santana,Pelfrey,Perez,Maine, and Niese...Sounds good to me...

Other than those three positions i can't think of anywhere we would want to make moves, other than maybe at 1st base for Texiera...But I'm not seeing that happening..That's what the Mets need..

What the Mets need...and what we think they need.

To Minaya's credit, he did manage to net Luis Ayala for Anderson Hernandez with equates to a damn good reliever for the guy who is the #3 SS or #4 2B in the organizational depth chart.  Not bad, but not the huge change that is needed.

Having that said, the pen is a real liability right now and you would think that it would be the primary concern going into 2009.  The offense is just fine with Delgado's situation/replacement being the only real concern since Argenis Reyes has emerged as a decent back-up policy for Castillo at second.

You would think the Mets will toss their hat in the ring for K-Rod along with the other 29 teams in baseball.  My other idea is to continually lace Heilman and Sanchez's Gatorade with mercury until they develop brain tumors that make them revert to their respective early 2006 forms.

I will start with what we do not need. BATS, the lineup has been scoring plenty of runs. That being said you are right on the money. The Mets need a quality closer. Billy Wagner when healthy showed exactly why a closer is so important and even more so now as the Mets bullpen has blown 22 leads that have become loses. Omar Minaya and his "sit pat" philosophy is killing this team.
