Greatest Baseball Team 2B

Wow this is a pretty spirited contest...sorry I missed the 1B voting...here is my top 5.

  1. Rogers Hornsby - Cardinals, Giants, Braves, Cubs, Browns
  2. Jackie Robinson - Dodgers
  3. Roberto Alomar - Padres, Blue Jays, Orioles, Indians, Mets, White Sox, Diamondbacks
  4. Bill Mazeroski - Pirates
  5. Joe Morgan - Colt .45's / Astros, Reds, Giants, Phillies, Athletics

In my opinion, Hornsby is head and shoulder above the rest. I think an HM should go to Ian Kinsler of the Rangers and Robinson Cano of the Yankees. Both of whom are too early in their careers to be considered for this list.

keep it up clutch.

My vote is for Rogers Hornsby

I can't find an analysis of defensive stats for 2nd baseman, but the offensive star was Hornsby.  Rod Carew won as many batting titles but didn't have near as much power. Joe Morgan was a great leader and could steal bases with the best. Ryne Sandberg had lots of skills but
is not in the same class as the others.

Hornsby won the triple crown... twice!! Had the second highest batting average in a season all time .424 in  1924 and was an absolute gentlemen of the field

What? Jackie Robinson? I'm at a loss for words. The answer is Rogers Hornsby. A case can sorta be made for Eddie Collins, but Robinson isn't even in the discussion. Look at the stats. Just a little.THANK YOU, We may have different votes but i always tell people that Jackie Robinson was OK at best also he was NOT the first african american baseball player in the major leagues he broke the color barrier braking the color barrier and being the first colored player are 2 entirely different things
