Daily Picks: 02/16... Really?

This should be interesting… I hope it’s not as confusing as it sounds

YOUR STEPS
Step1: Pick and rank each game in both sets (games are posted on the link below).
Step2: Pick one of the sets to be your “Tiebreaker”
Step3: Post your picks in a private message to me (LINK HERE)

MY STEPS
Step1: When all entries have been compiled, the “Consensus Picks” will be posted for each set.
Step2: The Top 5 games (Ranked 11-7) from each of the “Consensus Picks” will be identified and then combined to form the “Top” Set games.  The remaining games will be combined to form the “Bottom” set games.
Step3: I will go back to your original picks and pull out your picks and ranks from the games in the “Top” Set.  They will be indexed against each other and re-ranked from 10 down to 1 (if a game was ranked the same in both of your sets, the “Tiebreaker” set will get a higher rank).
Step4: Follow the same process for the “Bottom” Set.

Why would I do this?  First, your results from the “Bottom” Set will be QUADRUPLED (“Top” Set picks will be scored regularly).  Trust me… there can be some crazy strategy involved here so I’m asking all of you to post Private Messages with your picks.  If I was the 10th person to make my picks, I would have a huge advantage over the first person because I could “estimate” the consensus picks and then rank my games accordingly.

Bottom line, a little risk here can certainly pay off.  Straight up, there would be 66 points available per set.  However, the 10 games in the Top Set will end up being worth 55 points while the 12 games in the Bottom Set end up being worth 312 points.  If you rank wisely (and with respect to everyone else’s picks), your most confident picks can end up being worth 48 points!

Beer's Bracket - 02/13/11 as of 2PM

So much for Nova… Based on the outcomes of yesterday’s games, there are a ton of seeding changes in my bracket.  Please note that I haven’t updated Win-Loss records in a few days.  In my opinion, I don’t think the “bubble” picture got any easier but it’s not too bad.  I expect a lot of people to slam me for putting Michigan into my bracket.  I will ask those people to check out my conversation with LAOJoe (link HERE) and tell me which of my NIT teams deserves to be in over the Wolverines:
