Phillies Insight

Will Utley be ready? There is a lot of speculation concerning the chances of Chase Utley recoverying in time to start the season. Will he be ready to go ? Utley underwent the surgery on his injured hip on November 24th. Phillies officials said it would take him four to six months to recover fully. So with those numbers that would have him ready to play on March 24 which would be about 13 days away from opening day. If he is out the full six months he will miss 40 or so games. In that situation the Phillies are going to need a solid replacement to start the season at 2nd base. Marcus Gillies,Pablo Ozuna, or maybe even Greg Dobbs getting time in the middle infield. Dobbs is an all around infielder and wouldn't be a downside to the Phillies as a replacement for Utley, But Gillies has the experience but has been off his game the past few years.

Projected Starters
1.Cole Hamels
2.Brett Myers
3.Jamie Moyer
4.Joe Blanton
5.Chan Ho Park*

*Has the experience that the Phillies need as a low end starter. Should have a good camp as he is skipping the Korean Baseball Classic to concentrate on getting a starting job in Philadelphia. J.A Happ should be a contender for the spot as well. The Phillies won all 4 games he started in last season and Happ made the post season roster. Kyle Kendrick is a great pitcher has a nice breaking ball but he doesn't have what it takes to get the Starting Role off of Park.Carlos Carrasco will most likely start the season in Lehigh Valley, but expect him to get the call up sometime this year to get his chance.

Bull Pen
Closer:
Brad Lidge
RH Setup: Ryan Madsen
LH Setup: Scott Eyre unitl Romero returns from susp.

Batting Order
1.Rollins
2.Victorino
3.Utley
4.Howard
5.Ibanez
6.Werth
7.Ruiz
8.Feliz
