Ole Miss DE Lockett granted sixth-year waiver

Defensive end Kentrell Lockett, a team captain as a fifth-year senior in 2010, was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA and will play for the Rebels in 2011 rather than entering the NFL draft. Lockett opted not to work out for scouts when invited to the combine and again at the Mississippi pro day in fear of risking his eligibility for '11. He was ranked the No. 28 defensive end by NFLDraftScout.com.
Lockett received a medical waiver because he missed more than two-thirds of his team's games last season. Lockett was injured in the fourth game of the season against Fresno State with a torn ACL. Lockett had missed the season opener with a heart condition. He started all 26 games in 2008 and '09.
