This is a subjective list of course- but this is my best attempt at isolating the best quarterbacks of the last decade. Note- this is based upon quarterback performance, more than team performance. Namely- if you took the quarterback off the team they are on, would they still be a top tier player?
Peyton Manning- Brady has more rings, but this guy could be dropped on any team and instantly the dynamics of that team change.
Kurt Warner- 3 trips to the Super Bowl with 2 different teams. He's a difference maker.
Brett Farve- This past year moves him up this list. When he's good Favre, he's arguably one of the top QB's in the league. The chances he takes that don't work out keep him from being higher on this list.
Drew Brees- The guy is a winner, and 4000+ yards or so a season for the last 4 seasons doesn't hurt, either.
Donovan McNabb- Eagles' all-time leader in career wins, pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. 6 time pro bowl selection, and playoff appearances in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009. Wow.
Ben Roethlesberger- starting halfway through the decade hurts him, and I'm not certain how much this
has to do with it a great supporting cast.
Matt Hasselback- He kept them competitive for most of the decade. 4 division titles from 2004 to 2007 plus a Super Bowl appearance isn't half bad. However, they had an outstanding line and running game.
Carson Palmer- Supporting cast is kind of weak so that's what puts him on this list. Playoff appearances in 2005 and 2009.
