VOD 07/03/12: Think Before You Speak.

Verse:

Psalms 141:3
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. (KJV)

Thought:

Bluntly…Think Before You Speak. Too many times words spoken in haste, especially in a heated moment, have been the source of ill will and lead to confusion and misunderstanding. Is an inappropriate word or phrase worth the possible loss of a friendship? Weigh your words carefully before speaking. Once a word passes the lips it is unrecoverable. Ask yourself if you would appreciate it if someone said that word to you. Taking only a minute of thought can be worth an hour of talk.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit show us how to consider our words before they are spoken. Let us empathize with what another would feel if spoken to in a critical way or a demeaning manner. Teach us how to show others compassion and understanding by how we speak to them in times of need, despair, and correction.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and wonder-filled day.

May God Bless,

VOD 07/02/12: Stand Firm in Your Convictions.

Verse:

James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. (KJV)

Thought:

How many people do you know can be called ‘wishy-washy’; having no firm commitment or convictions and are easily swayed one way or another or just go with the flow of the status quo? Satan thrives on the weak-willed because he knows that they can be easily influenced. That’s not to say that you should not be open to new ideas. Just hold your ideals until another can be proven better.  God wants us to be individuals with firm beliefs and faith, especially when we go to Him in prayer.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit give us the will and dedication to stand strong in our convictions. We come to You as a united people but with our own individualities. We ask for the strength and courage to stand up for our beliefs and faith in You. Let us not be manipulated by those that would try to change our commitment to You.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 07/01/12: Who Said That?

Verse:

Proverbs 16:18
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (KJV)

Thought:

Now you know where Homer’s adage ‘Pride goeth before the fall’ comes from. In fact, if you look deeper into the ‘words of wisdom’ attributed to many famous people, you will find that they are simply a rewording of scriptures from God’s word, the Holy Bible. They fail to disclose that little known fact, instead taking the credit and accolades that belong to Him. Rather than placing so much emphasis on the sayings of people of renown, wouldn’t you rather hear it from the original author?

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit never allow us to be overly impressed with the wisdom of man. May we always remember that there is none other with greater words of wisdom than You. Before we become too impressed with another’s knowledge, let us first study their inspiration, Your Word, and take the teachings to heart.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 06/30/12: He Goes Where You Go.

Verse:

Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (KJV)

Thought:

Self-doubt. How many times have you not done something because you don’t think you could? Whenever it gets down to crunch time, we can call on the Lord and He will show us how to see through our lack of confidence. I am sure you have heard the expression before: ‘When one door is closed to you, God will open another door.’ Just open your heart and mind to Him and He will open your eyes to see the way. When your need that extra boost of confidence, He will be there for you.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit give us the strength, courage, and wisdom to handle life’s ups and downs. Be with us always and let us know that You are there for us to lean on in times of trouble and confusion. Open our eyes to see the answers You place before us and give us the confidence we need to act in any situation we face.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ...Amen.

VOD 06/29/12: One Day We Will Be Free.

Verse:

Isaiah 14:3
And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, (KJV)

Thought:

One day we will be free from sorrow, pain, and fear. One day we will be free from the oppressive rule of Satan. He was given this world to rule as a punishment when we turned our backs on the LORD. God decided that if we wouldn’t believe His word, then we would have to learn the hard way…from experience. But he is a loving Father. One day He will take back what is rightfully His. On that day we will be given a second chance to repent of our sins and join Him in His holy kingdom.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit open our eyes, minds, and hearts to the life you offer. We know that we have fallen short of Your expectations and ask for Your forgiveness. May we learn from our past and hold on to the hope of tomorrow. We ask for this time to be cut short and You send Jesus to collect what is rightfully Yours.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 06/27/12: To Learn, You Have to Listen.

Verse:

Proverbs 1:5
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: (KJV)

Thought:

Too many people like to talk and too few people like to listen. Too few people that do listen actually hear what is being said to them, thereby missing out on a wealth of knowledge. A person too busy trying to tell others how smart they are is missing out on the wisdom that someone else may be trying to impart to them. Listening is a fine art that has been lost in the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Always try to remember, the first step to wisdom is silence...the second is listening.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit give us the patience and attention we need to listen . Help us to remember that if we are talking we can not hear; and if we can not hear, we can not learn; and if we can not learn, we can not obtain wisdom. Show us how to use what we learn for the good of others and by so doing, benefit ourselves.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 06/26/12: And The Meek Shall Inherit.

Verse:

Numbers 12:3
(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) (KJV)

Thought:

Moses was probably one of the most humble men ever known. He did not consider himself worthy enough to do what the Father asked of him but He was unrelenting. Why? Because Moses’ humility and lack of ego allowed him to be open to the power of God and accomplish His purpose. In his weakest area, his speech, God had his brother help him to get His message delivered to the Pharaoh. Remember, it is best not to ‘expect’ to be given, but instead to ‘accept’ that which is given unto you.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit show us how to open ourselves up to Your many blessings. Teach us how to be humble and appreciative of Your grace. Show us how to accept favor without expecting or demanding it. May we ever show others the qualities You look for in those that would profess to be called Your children.
We lift our prayer up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 06/25/12: Where Do You Look?

Verse:

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. (KJV)

Thought:

When you look at someone, what is it about that person that catches your attention? If you are like most people it would be their appearance. This also applies to the personality they wear. If it doesn’t meet your approval, do you even pay attention to what they have to say? God does. He looks past the outside and sees inside. It’s not WHAT a person is but WHO a person is that matters. It would help us all to be more concerned about what He sees in our hearts than what we wear on our bodies.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit keep us more focused on who we are in our hearts. Help us to be more understanding of those we come into contact with. Teach us how to listen to another person’s heart to find out about who they are. Have us look at ourselves first and see what others see before comparing ourselves with others.
We lift this prayer up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.
