VOD 05/29/12: Can You Keep a Secret?

Verse:

Proverbs 11:13
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter. (KJV)

Thought:

Remember the old adage, ‘Discretion is the better part of valor.’? It might also bode well with you to keep this thought in mind; If a person will gossip to you, that same ‘friend’ will also gossip about you. Don’t allow yourself to be drawn into discussions that belittle another person or disclose secrets about their personal life. We all have parts of our lives that we are ashamed of and don’t wish to be known.  Nobody is perfect, and that time could be better utilized correcting our own shortcomings.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit show us our own shortcomings and how to correct them. Help us to refrain from talking about, and passing judgment, on others. Have us look into a mirror, recognize our own faults, and study Your Word on how to correct them. Let us always try to see how Jesus would act and respond accordingly.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to one and all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and wonder-filled day.

May God Bless,
Michael

VOD 05/28/12: Stand Up And Be Strong!

Verse:

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)

Thought:

If you will do the things you fear, then the death of fear is a certainty. Stand up strong for what you believe in and other’s objections will fall by the wayside. Remember the oft quoted scripture, ‘If God be for us, then who can be against us.’? Well, it’s true. He will not turn His back on you as long as you don’t turn your back on Him. He will stand beside you and give you the strength you need to withstand any assault on your faith. The combination of His strength and your faith will overcome.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit constantly renew our faith in the struggle against forces that work against us in this world. Do not allow our beliefs to be swayed by those that would misrepresent Your Word in an attempt to come between us. Give us the strength of Jesus as He took on the powers of this world for our salvation.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/27/12: Do You Set A Good Example?

Verse:

John 13:15
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. (KJV)

Thought:

Here, Jesus was referring to the washing of His disciple’s feet. The point He was trying to make is that no one is better than anybody else. They may hold a loftier position than you but that does not make them a better person than yourself, just one that has had a greater level of success at this point in time. He was saying the most valuable gift you can give to another is an inspirational example. Let your words and actions reflect those our LORD and our Savior in order to glorify the name of God.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit make us aware of all we do and say, especially around children, because our actions may have an influence on them. Let us always walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus so that we will know our conduct is to be above reproach. May we ever give praise and glory for all that you have done for us.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/26/12: Do You Feel Lucky?

Verse:

Proverbs 13:4
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat. (KJV)

Thought:

How many times have you heard, ‘You sure were lucky.’ or ‘You lucked out that time.’? You can define luck as a loser’s excuse for a winner’s position. Rather than admit that a person won or achieved their goal through hard work, diligence, and patience, some people will attribute another’s success to an illusion, when in fact they are jealous of the other person’s character and drive. The more you trust in and depend on our Father, the more you realize that luck is not part of the equation.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit instill within us the determination of our Lord Jesus to persevere and accomplish our goals in this life. Let us not be swayed by those that do not understand that achievement is the result of diligence. Never let us lose sight of our ultimate goal of achieving eternal life in Your glorious holy kingdom.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/25/12: Do What Needs To Be Done.

Verse:

Ecclesiastes 3:17
I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work. (KJV)

Thought:

This is an interesting scripture that is often quoted but far too few gather its significance. From the time you wake up, the greatest possession you have is the next 24 hours. What will you do with this time that God has given you? Will you do what you put off yesterday, or will you put it off again until tomorrow, and so forth. We need to make the most use of the time we have been allocated in order to accomplish the work we have been given. Today is the time we need to do what needs to be done.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit encourage us to not put off until later that which needs to be done now. Let our diligence be an inspiration for others to follow, as we follow Your will in the footsteps of our Lord.. We pray that our accomplishments will be those that are pleasing in Your sight and will bring glory to Your name.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/24/12: So, You Think You Know It All?

Verse:

Proverbs 15:32
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. (KJV)

Thought:

Nobody, except God, knows everything. Even Jesus doesn’t know the time of His return. If you don’t learn at least one new thing a day, that day is wasted because it means you were not open-minded enough to listen to someone else. Even children, in their sweet innocence, can say things to give pause for thought. Open your hearts and minds to everything around you and you will succeed where others may fail. You can also succeed, and learn, by following the same advice you give others.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit open our minds and hearts to the instruction and correction of others. Never let us assume the posture of someone who thinks they know it all. Let this be especially true in our daily endeavors to follow the same path as Jesus. May the promise of Your Word be our guiding light along the path we walk.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/23/12: Whom Do You Try To Please?

Verse:

Colossians 3:23-24
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. (KJV)

Thought:

I have never heard of anyone on their deathbed say, ‘I wish I had spent more time at work.’. More than likely they speak of regretting not spending more time with their loved ones, or asking God for forgiveness of their sins. It is never too late to repent but the time lost with family and friends is gone forever. Gone are any more opportunities to do the work our Lord has tasked you to do in order to please Him. Whether it be work or leisure, do it with a passion to please our Lord, not your peers.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit live within us and show us the way to do that which is pleasing to you. Today we vow to use our time to better serve You as we live this precious gift called life. Let us not be as concerned as to what our fellow man thinks of our works, but rather as to how is our time best spent being a delight unto You.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

VOD 05/22/12: How Much Do You Love Someone?

Verse:

John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (KJV)

Thought:

Love is not an easy pursuit. In order to love someone you have to believe in them, you have to trust in them, and you have to have faith in them. You have to be ready to sacrifice everything for them, up to and including your life. That sounds pretty extreme but that’s what true love is about. Anything less is just a passing infatuation. Jesus has such a love for us. He sacrificed all and gave His life so that we might have eternal life. He deserves the same amount of love, in the same way that He loves us.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings in our lives. Abba Lord, have Your Holy Spirit show us how to love in the same way that we are loved. Thank You for loving us. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to pay for our sins. Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to pay the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live with You and Your Father in His heavenly Kingdom to come.
We lift our prayers up to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.
