Danica Patrick will honor fallen Indy Car star Dan Wheldon with a special tribute helmet this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.
Patrick will wear the helmet in Saturday's O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Nationwide Series race at TMS and then auction it off for charity after the event.
"I am humbled and proud to be wearing a special paint-out of my helmet in honor of Dan this weekend at Texas," Patrick said. "This helmet will be auctioned off after the race with all proceeds, along with my prize money from this race, going to the Dan Wheldon Foundation. Dan was a good friend, and I will miss his great personality and positive attitude. I hope everyone will join me in supporting Susie and their two young boys at DanWheldonMemorial.com."
Wheldon was killed in last month's Indy Car season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The two-time Indianapolis 500 champion was slated to replace Patrick in the Andretti Autosports entry next season as she moves into a full-time NASCAR career.
