NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton explained the timeline for the Hendrick Motorsports appeal process regarding penalties levied against the No. 48 team at Daytona when he visited with SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio's "The Morning Drive" on Tuesday.

Pemberton said the process was moving forward and he expected the hearing to tak eplace within the next two weeks.

NASCAR outlaws on track pushing to save fuel

By Pete Pistone

Drivers will no longer be able to push one another on track to save fuel under caution.

Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition, outlined the new policy to teams Saturday morning at Talladega Superspeedway.

Camping World Truck Series drivers were informed of the rule at their pre-race meeting before Saturday's Coca-Cola 250.

“Not everybody has the ability to have teammates or other folks to push to save fuel," said Pemberton. "We’ll leave the racing on the race track, and that’s the way we’re going to govern things.”

The decision comes on the heels of Austin Dillon pushing Kevin Harvick under caution two weeks ago at Kansas Speedway.

Pushing during drafting conditions at Talladega or Daytona will still be allowed.
