Fantastic Finishes: Darlington vs. Talladega

Sunday at Talladega, Jimmie Johnson's razor-thin victory over Clint Bowyer tied the record for closest margin of victory (.002 seconds) which held been held by Ricky Craven after his thrilling duel with Kurt Busch.

Of the two, Craven's win stands as the better finish in my mind -- by a mile. I still remembering watching it in the newsroom that day, entranced by what I was witnessing over those final laps. Restrictor-plate races are pretty much manufactured to end in some sort of unbelievable fashion. Whereas Darlington that day was just a perfect storm of circumstances, with neither driver willing to give an inch in a battle that lasted several laps. It's really how I wish every race could end.

Daytona Truck Series race video
