Big Ben Trade Scenario!

I was laying in bed tonight with my beautiful fiancee, going over different trades that have been offered and made, when an idea came to mind. I was recalling the Philadelphia Eagles'-Washington Redskins' Donovan McNabb (QB) trade. I was so excited that I had to get out of bed and throw this one out to everyone via blog.

The Oakland Raiders were said to be very interested in acquiring the then Eagles now Redskins QB, even willing to throw Nnamdi Asomugha (CB) in a trade for McNabb. This is where my thought scenario comes into play. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been said to be looking for two first-round picks for Ben. What if Pittsburgh were to give Ben Roethelisburger (QB) for Oakland's CB and their 8th pick in the first round of the draft. Keep in mind Asomugha is a 1st round talent at CB. That scenario, paired with the Steelers' own 18th pick, provides Pittsburgh with two solid spots in the first round.

Furthermore, picking up Asomugha would take care of the Steelers' CB need, allowing them to draft Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen (QB) with their 8th pick. Pittsburgh would then be left with their 18th pick, which would best be used for offense line. Idaho's Mike Iupati (G/T) and the University of Florida's Maurkice Pouncey (C/G) are good offensive prospects. Another idea would be for the Steelers to trade their 8th and 18th picks for the St. Louis Ram's first pick. Spicing up the trade a little by throwing in a 3rd or 4th rounder would make it very tempting for St. Louis to accept. Pittsburgh's first pick would be Oklahoma's Sam Bradford (QB), who is projected as the best QB in this draft. Bradford is the closest thing to a franchise QB you will have in a long time, and would eliminate any concern of off-the-field-problems.

That's all the football talk for tonight, take care.

Boozin' Ben

I have been reading all of the media, rumors, and statements that have taken place during Roethlisberger's case investigation and have come to a conclusion. Big Ben is a great QB but a dirt bag of a person. IF all of these allegations are true, which hundreds of pages of allegations and statements were released Thursday, then Ben is not a player I want on my team. These cases have become a team distraction and are popping up what seems like everyday.

The Rooney's have discussed the possibility of a trade to get Ben out of town, and gain back the respect that they have earned over 80 years. Trading Holmes was a good idea, but would have been a better idea had they come out with a better draft pick. One trade for Ben I would love to see would be Steelers trade Big Ben to the Rams for the first pick in the draft. This would give them all access to Sam Bradford, who is the closest thing to a franchise QB your going to have for a while. Bradford posseses all of the qualities NFL teams look for in a QB. Size, Skill, Maturity, you name it Bradford's got it. They also would still have their 18th pick in the draft, and could still address their needs at offensive line, or cornerback.

Ben was given fame too early, and now doesn't know how to handle it. He thinks he's invincible and can't be touched, but he picked the wrong franchise to think that with. The Steelers have been known for a zero tolerance policy on off-the-field issues, and now Ben has dug himself in to a hole he can't get out of. I hope the Steelers do trade Ben and get the first pick for him, and even if they don't hopefully this will be a wake up call and he throws his invincibility cloak away and starts worrying about football.
