Maybe it's because I remember what it was like when my dad would go away for six months on a "cruise," as they call Navy deployments and how excited I was when he came back, but I'm a sucker for these welcome home videos that are making the rounds.
The latest is this one from Mississippi, where U.S. Army Major Michael Harlow surprised his wife with his return from Afghanistan at a Double-A Mississippi Braves game. Harlow's wife, Darla, threw out the first pitch and didn't notice who the catcher was when she threw the ball in there. The video is fantastic.
The Welcome Home Blog has more of these kinds of videos, including Air Force Sargent Chris Weichman being reunited with his wife and two little girls during a Spokane Indians game. It doesn't have the creativity of the Mississippi reunion, but it has all the emotion.
Bless our men and women in service (and as a side note, I'm excited that my sister's fiancé will return from Cuba next week, so, yeah, it hits home) and hopefully we can see more and more of these -- I don't know about you, but it never gets old to me.
