Victor Martinez has been completely shut down since hitting the disabled list last week with a groin strain, but before Tuesday's game, he did agility drills, caught and hit without feeling any pain whatsoever.
“I’m feeling great, man,” Martinez told MLB.com. “This is the day that I can say it, because this is the first day I went outside and did something.”
V-Mart will likely come off the DL the first day he is available, which will allow him to play the final two games of an upcoming four-game set against the Yankees. It's possible the team could ask him to make a couple minor-league rehab starts, but if he continues to have zero setbacks, that's unlikely. Back in the AL Central, the ex-Indians and Red Sox catcher was off to a .250/.292/.417 start in 65 plate appearances.
