Warrick Dunn stopped by police for tinted windows

Posted by Ryan Wilson

Warrick Dunn played 12 NFL seasons and by the time he retired in 2008, he had rushed for nearly 11,000 yards and 64 touchdowns. But Dunn is probably better known for his contributions off the field, specifically the Warrick Dunn Family Foundation which, according to the website, is "dedicated to providing opportunities for economically disadvantaged single parents and children who have demonstrated a commitment to achieve financial independence and stability." Essentially, Dunn helps families become homeowners.

But last week police stopped Dunn outside Atlanta because the window tinting on his automobile was too dark. Dunn was also told that he fit the description of a criminal.

On Friday, Dunn wrote about the incident on Facebook.

"Pulled over outside Atl because he said my window tint was too dark. During the stop he asked a lot of personal questions, said I had the characteristics of people transporting drugs & guns. So he searched my car and gave me a warning for my tint. Felt violated and I've had my car since '08, nvr been pulled ovr for tint. Taken back bc I think the reasoning was bad. Ruined my day but not my spirit."

He also tweeted that, "Funny thing is you can see inside bc my tint is not dark. It was cloudy and 5-0 was 20 yards behind at an angle."

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a spokesman for the Georgia state patrol didn't have any information on the incident, and Dunn couldn't be reached for comment.

Three weeks ago, former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart was arrested in Alpharetta, Georgia for driving with a suspended license due to an outdated traffic ticket for tinted windows.

UPDATE (2:00 THURSDAY): "The arrest has open my eyes about staying on top of my automobile issues with a closer eye," Stewart tweeted on Thursday afternoon. "Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Today I am focusing on keeping business in order and I'm patiently awaiting the NFL's season to begin.

"Thank you for the kind words."

Ex-Steelers quarterback and current ESPN analyst Kordell Stewart was pulled for speeding and driving without a suspended license on Wednesday.

Stewart, per the Associated Press, was thrown in jail and later released on $3,000 bail, according to Tracy Flanagan, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

Stewart has a July 12 court date. ESPN has yet to comment on the matter.

Stewart, best known as "Slash" for his passing/running/receiving/kicking ability, became the second all-time NFL leader in rushing touchdowns during his 11 NFL seasons.
