Today the Jaguars website posed the question of who will line up opposite budding star Mike Sims-Walker as the No. 2 receiver in 2010. In examining the options closely, the only thing that’s clear is that the Jaguars will regret letting go of Torry Holt.
Their hope is that speedy second-year target Mike Thomas will step up, but the stocky 5’8”, 198-pounder seems better equipped for the slot. Veteran Troy Williamson is fast but unreliable. Newcomer Kassim Osgood signed with the Jags primarily because he saw an opportunity to become a fulltime receiver. Osgood is well-sized but has spent most of his eight NFL years on special teams (which doesn’t happen by accident). Last year’s fifth-round pick Jarrett Dillard only caught six passes before breaking his leg/ankle in November.
