Oklahoma has its hands full with Air Force

Posted by Tom Fornelli

Maybe the Sooners are just really fond of Robert Louis Stevenson and his Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, because it's becoming apparent that we have absolutely no idea which team is going to show up each week.  First they struggled to finish off Utah State, and then last week they swatted Florida State to the side like a mettlesome mosquito.

This week?  This week they find themselves tied with Air Force in the third quarter.  Now it could be argued that Air Force is the best team the Sooners have played this season, but when you're ranked 7th in the country, this is a game you shouldn't have much trouble with in your own home.

The score is 10-10 but the Falcons are outplaying the Sooners.  They've outgained Oklahoma 253-170 and held Landry Jones to 140 yards while completing only 14 of his 25 passes.

The Sooners will need to get their act together quick or they risk a big loss at home.

UPDATE: That was quick.  By the time we published this post following the tying touchdown, Oklahoma went down the field in two plays to take a 17-10 lead.

UPDATE: Well, we can call off the upset alert.  Oklahoma woke up and is now up 27-10 late in the third quarter.

UPDATE: Did we say call off the upset alert?  Silly us, what we meant to say was UPSET ALERT CODE ORANGE.  The Falcons have fought back and are now down 27-24 with 3:12 left with Oklahoma set to get the ball back following an Air Force touchdown.

UPDATE: It's over.  Crisis averted.  DeMarco Murray proves to be too much for the Air Force defense as the Sooners ride their stud running back to run out the clock and win 27-24.
