A week after improving to 4-0 with a victory over North Carolina, Georgia Tech will make their first ACC road trip to Raleigh to face N.C. State. The Yellow Jackets are on a mission to try and reverse the outcome of last season's 45-28 loss to the Wolfpack in Atlanta.
"[We] always remember what happened last year at Georgia Tech," said linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu. "We're ready to go on the road and get it back, get the respect back from N.C. State that they took from us last year."
One of the things that went wrong for the Yellow Jackets in that contest was the special teams, where the Wolfpack blocked a Chandler Anderson punt in the first quarter and turned it into the first touchdown of the game. Heading into the rematch on Saturday, there is something odd about the Georgia Tech special teams.
According to the Yellow Jackets' depth chart, redshirt freshman Tony Zenon weighs 182 pounds when he returns kickoffs. HOWEVER when Zenon hits the field to return punts, the Albany, Ga. native sheds 12 pounds. We can only imagine this presents a competitive advantage that will have N.C. State's special teams unit on high alert for No. 9 if/when he hits the field.

Alabama uses a similar strategy. Before the season, one person inside the program said what many had been saying: this defense was better than 2009's championship squad and might be one of the most talented ever under Nick Saban. They might have an even faster secondary than LSU and use the speed to play everything in front of them, swarming to ball seconds after the snap.
Stat of the week
- James was back to putting up video game numbers for Oregon against Arizona this weekend. He rushed for a school record 288 yards and also set the all-purpose mark. His first quarter touchdown run also gave him the Ducks record for career touchdowns as well. His 288 yards were more than the Wildcats have rushed for all year (249).
Yard-by-yard
- I thought the Clemson game would be a bit of a letdown game for Florida State and while they made it close, the execution just was not there for the Seminoles. Of course they wanted to win and definitely were without some key players, but they invested so much into the game against Oklahoma one would have to think that they spent a little too much time watching film from last week instead of film of the Tigers. Just when it seemed like the defense was ready to make a stop or the offense get going, there'd be a penalty (they finished with 11 for 124 yards). On the other side, it finally appears that Clemson is getting the hang of offensive coordinator Chad Morris' new hurry-up system. Tajh Boyd still has moments that must make Morris rip out some hair but he is looking much more comfortable behind center. With electric freshman Sammy Watkins making plays every time you tune in, it's easy to see why there's plenty of optimism in Death Valley.
Leaning this way
GEORGIA TECH WON. The Yellow Jackets outlasted a relentless North Carolina squad, using their high powered option offense to pull away with a 35-28 win over the Tar Heels in Atlanta. Stephen Hill broke loose for 151 yards receiving while six different Yellow Jacket rushers combined for 311 yards on the ground. Georgia Tech is off to their first 4-0 start since 1990, when the Jackets went on to claim the national championship.

College football's encore weekend not only lived up to expectations, but beat them.
For Mark Richt, he might have to go bang his head against the wall a few times after every game. He's had injuries and suspensions and even NCAA issues thrown his way but there's still no getting around the fact that this is a good group of players who haven't lived up to expectations. Just when it seemed like Georgia was about to break through, they'd commit a big error. The good news is it looked like freshman running back Isaiah Crowell got going, rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown after breaking a few nice runs into the open field. But even as he took two steps forward, his fumble at midfield that Stephon Gilmore returned to the red zone was a step back. He's still a little behind in pass protection but the flashes he showed reminded everybody, coaches included, why he was so highly recruited out of high school.
