As Florida continues to shift around personnel with their new staff, head coach Will Muschamp had to make some more moves after losing A.C. Leonard to a knee injury.
Muschamp told the Gainesville Sun Leonard had surgery on Wednesday to repair torn meniscus, and is expected to miss up to two months. Leonard was ranked among the best tight ends in the 2011 class according to most recruiting services. Muschamp indicated that the decision whether or not Leonard would redshirt the 2011 season will be made at a later date. The freshman tight end was listed third on the depth chart behind Jordan Reed and Gerald Christian, and his absence has forced the staff to move some players around.
Defensive end Clay Burton, younger brother of sophomore Trey, will move to tight end to add some depth at that position. Wide receiver Omarius Hines will also spend some time lining up at tight end "in certain situations," a position he assumed at times in 2010.
