With Florida struggling against USF in the Swamp, the SEC division showdown between South Carolina and Georgia has taken on new importance. We have wondered who, if anyone, would knock the Gators off their throne as kings of the SEC East. Consider it premature, but the winner of Georgia and South Carolina will quickly place themselves in that discussion.
At half, South Carolina is leading Georgia 14-3 in a physical battle that has highlighted the talents of running backs Marcus Lattimore and Washan Ealey. Lattimore has been an absolute monster for South Carolina, rushing 21 times for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He showed flashes of his ability in their opener against Southern Miss, but this first half performance has been outstanding. Interesting that what looks to be one of Steve Spurrier's best teams at South Carolina is led by a running back. While Ealey has certainly been outdone in the first half, he has been solid on the ground for the Dawgs, rushing 11 times for 47 yards.
