N.C. State's injury woes on defense just don't seem to end. It began in preseason with sophomore cornerback Jarvis Byrd suffering yet another season-ending knee injury - his second ACL tear in two seasons. Since then senior defensive linemen J.R. Sweezy and Jeff Rieskamp have suffered setbacks, and now the linebacking corps will be thinner as well.
CBSSports.com's Mike Potter is reporting that outside linebacker Terrell Manning will miss three weeks after undergoing successful surgery on his left knee. Manning is the third leading returning tackler from 2010, and along with junior Audie Cole is counted on as one of the unit's playmakers. Manning will be replaced by senior Dwayne Maddox, who played the second half against South Alabama.
The Wolfpack travel to face Cincinnati on national television Thursday night before hosting No. 25 Georgia Tech on Oct. 1. Manning could make his return Oct. 8 against Central Michigan or wait until after the bye week and return Oct. 22 against Virginia.
