Rondo no longer a top 5 pg? IMO he isn't.....

I've defended Rondo big time because of his defense, passing skills, ect. At this point, after making top 5 by each position. He is #6 on my list due to his poor offense. It has got to improve. Here is my list of top 5 pgs right now:

1.CP3-best point guard in the game for the last couple of years. Defense is solid, passing is great, and offense is also a good asset. He is the complete package.
2.Derrick Rose-He is probably the best scoring point guard in the game today. Defense really doesn't help him all that much. That is something he needs to improve on along with getting his teammates involved offensively. That is one of the main reasons why he isn't the best today.
3.Westbrook-Some folks may think he is too high on my list, but I could argue that he is just as good as Rose. Not only offensively, but passing as well. During the regular season the guy avg over 8 assists per game along with a nice scoring total. Any of these top 3 guards I'd love to see in Orlando next season. The toughest part for Westbrook is his contract salary is only 4 million. I doubt Thunder would part ways. Rose is reigning MVP and the star of the Bulls. No way Bulls trade him for anybody other than Howard on the Magic. CP3 is on a team ran by the NBA.
4.D-Will-Can score 20 and get his teammates involved. The guy isn't that great defensively, but is a great point guard. Hopefully for Jersey he will stick around. Write it down now!! Kevin Love will be a member of the New Jersey Nets after next season.
5.Steve Nash-This may surprise some or it may not. Nash has been one of the best point guards for a fairly long time in the NBA. Two NBA MVPs to prove it. He still has it. Offense is still solid and is one of the best passers in the game.

Agree or disagree? Where does Rondo rank on your point guard list?

Memphis vs Thunder preview West Semis

The series can be debated on who the favorites are. Memphis simply for beating the Spurs. The best team in the Western Conference was a bit of a shocker. Especially in just 5 games. Thunder simply because homecourt and great group of guys. I think the Thunder should be the favorite and they are in my opinion. They got the best player overall and their team is a higher seed.  They are of course everyones pick as a sleeper. The X factor in the series will be Mike Conley. Both his defensive and offensive game will play a huge factor in the series. Westbrook is an elite point guard in my eyes. I like him in the matchup of course. Who is gonna guard Durant? I don't think Young can stop him. Durant is gonna get his points in this series. Guys are gonna have to step up defensively in this series. The matchup I'm looking forward to though is gonna also play a huge factor: Ibake vs Randolph. Randolph had a pretty solid series vs the Spurs, but now he is facing Ibaka, who played pretty well himself. He looked dominant defensively vs the Nuggets. It won't be easy for either. It should be a good challenge for both players. I like the Thunder in this one in 6.

NBA all-time/current best scorers/defenders

It is a rather interesting topic I came up with some time ago. I was thinking about who is the best scorer at this position and that position. For instance if I wanted the best offensive team all-time or currently who would I have on that team. If I was facing a team with great scorers such as Kobe or MJ who would I ask to guard them. That is the whole point of this post. Create basically 4 starting lineups based on your opinion of course. 1 would be a list of the best scorers by position. You can only use let's say Wilt Chamberlain for scoring not defending. You also can't choose more than one position player. Example: You can't have on best scorers list Shaq and Chamberlain nor vise versa for defense. I'm a young fan which I will say first. I may not know the best of the best all-time, but I thought this would be a very interesting topic. This is like your own created teams. Best defenders vs the best scorers. I'll start:

Best scorers all-time:                                  Best defenders of all-time
C-Wilt Chamberlain                                    C-Bill Russel
PF-Duncan                                                 PF-KG
SF-Larry Bird                           vs                SF-Pippen
SG-Jordan                                                 SG-Clyde Drexler
PG-Magic Johnson                                      PG-Gary Payton

This is just best scorer by position. I did my best. You can argue both ways for KG being a great scorer and Duncan. They both needed in there in my humble opinion.

Best scorers right now:                                Best defenders right now:
C:Andrea Bargnani                                     C:Dwight Howard
PF:Dirk                                                     PF:Ibaka
SF:Lebron                              vs                SF:Rudy Gay
SG:Kobe                                                   SG:Manu Ginobili
PG:Russel Westbrook                                 PG:CP3

Remember some of these guys I named arn't nec. quote unquote superstars, but they are great in their own right. I mean I'm sure most folks don't even know who Ibaka is. In any case, this was rather fun and interesting. Hope for some solid feedback on this topic.

Russel Westbrook-having a great season
Manu Ginobili-the MVP of the Spurs. It has shown last couple of years.
