I did something similar to this some time ago. ESPN did it.....just want to hear other posters opinions on it. Who is the best all-time at respective positions? Who is the best right now at their respective positions?

It amazes me that some idiots actually think Riley is a genius because the 2010 offseason. It wasn't his genius and it had nothing to do at all with Pat Riley. It had everything to do with the star players and where they wanted to go. That is why the NBA lockout is happening because the players have too much control right now. They decided where they wanted to go.
Riley didn't land Lebron because money or genius. He landed Lebron because Bosh joined the Heat. Bosh was the guy who really decided where Wade and Lebron would go. Talks emerged about the possibility of a sign and trade with Bosh going to Cleveland. If that would have happened Lebron would be in Cleveland right now. If that would have happened Wade would likely be in Chicago playing for the Bulls while the Heat have one player named Mario Chalmers making K dollars. Riley would probably have lost his position and Heat would have probably turned out being the laughing stalk of the league.
Lebron and Wade made their decisions last while Bosh was the first to make his decision. When Bosh made his shortly after Wade joined him of course. Riley wasn't a genius at all. It had nothing to do with him luring them in with money or his talks about winning a championship. It had everything to do with the players decisons which ended up being the 2010 FA class. Riley is over-rated as the president of the Heat and as a coach as well. Who couldn't win championships with those Laker teams? Seriously? Why did the Knicks not win a championship under Riley in the 90s? He won one with the Heat after letting all those bench players left the next season they started off getting blown out by like 30 points. Terrible season which led to Shaq getting traded to PHX. Heat were going no where. Wade wanted out!! Talk about talentless teams....look who Wade had around him. Wade would have left Miami if Bosh or Lebron went elsewhere. No doubt in my mind. Likely destination would have been Chicago. Riley would have been fired if he wouldn't have been able to sign Bosh. Genius Riley? I think not. Terrible team after terrible team he put together. He has been critic for only coaching for good situations. Gave another coach an oppurtunity to coach a terrible team. What a lucky guy. LOL! Riley said to big 3 "I'll coach if you want me to". Nah, spoelstra is our coach after questioned about him coaching for the Heat.
Again: Riley isn't a genius!

I always look forward to these awards every year. It does get boring in the middle of it o. I still enjoy voting and get to see athletes get awards. In any case, here is the list of guys, gals, and teams that got my votes. Some of them I won't mention simply cuz I have no interest in some sports and don't know those athletes so I'll keep some out. I voted for this a week or so ago. I'm using some site that says the nominees.
Best Male Athlete: Dirk Nowitzki, NBA-he finally won his NBA championship that has eluded the man. To me he did the unthinkable. If you told me that Dirk would have had that kind of playoff performance with Dallas winning it all....I would have said you are insane. Come on....who thought LA would be swept in the playoffs. Just an impressive playoff run. He was unguardable. His performance in that playoff run gave him a strong legacy. He stayed with the Mavs and won their first championship in Franchise history. Congrats on beating the odds and proving all the doubter(including me) wrong. He deserves this more than any other athlete in sports today!!
Best female Athlete: Lindsey Vonn, skiiing-I know she has won some awards for the US in the past. I voted for simply for that fact along with I really didn't know anybody else besides Maya Moore who should receive some votes as well.
Best Championship performance: Tim Lincecum, 2010 postseason-I think we can all agree that it was rather unexpected. Not that he isn't a good pitcher, but the Giants winning the World Series. I was expecting Dodgers or Phillies to win it all. His playoff performance was great. Dirk's performance should have been a nominee.
Best breakthrough Athlete: Arian Foster- I'm not really a huge baseball fan. All I watch are Pirate games. I know Bautista has had a great season thus far, but my pick goes to Foster. Foster played outstanding early. He took over as the starter after Steve Slaton lost the spot. He did a great job. I expect Houston to compete for a playoff spot....though I didn't predict it to happen. Prove me wrong! I dislike Blake Griffin strongly with all the hype around his dunks. He didn't deserve to go to round 2. IT WAS FIXED!! I didn't vote for Tennis guy cuz I don't know him or her. Newton? I make jokes on the College boards about him earning his money. That is about it.
Best record breaking performance: Uconn women's win streak-I know a lot of males may hate me for voting for this, but come on now. They had a 2 or 3 year run without losing a game. They play like 30+ games a year. That is impressive in my book, but I can't take away Ray Allen's 3pt record or Rose winning the MVP as the youngest player ever to do so. Rory...I just plain don't like. I like Tiger as many fans do. I played a round of goofy golf. I bet I could beat him. Anyways, I admit I was happy when they lost cuz I was sick of hearing about it. Bet they deserve this award and should receive it.
Best upset: Seahawks upset Saints, NFL Wildcard playoffs-I absolutely loved every second of it. LOL! If anyone knows me they know I dislike the Saints. It was an awesome day for Seahawks who were the only team in NFL history to go to the playoffs. I loved to hear the haters afterwards saying it was fixed. It is fine though...If not for my dislike for the Saints....I would have voted for VCU NCAA basketball tourney. It was great to see I admit that. I wanted them to win the Championship after WVU got out. Didn't happen, but a great run nonetheless. Congrats to them! I won't be disappointed at all if they win the award o.
Best game: OKC beats Memphis 3-OT-I was shocked that it went to 3 which is the only reason why I voted for this game. It was great to witness. I wouldn't bet this gets voted o. I think the Eagles vs Giants game will be voted for. I was wanting the Giants to win that game, but they lost via special teams. It was terrible.
Best moment: Roy Halladay, no hitter MLB-Throwing a no hitter in a postseason game. Wow, just wow. He is one of the main reasons why I felt the Phillies would win it all after that.
Best team: Dallas Mavericks-Not a hockey fan, college football rankings have always been questioned, not women's sport fan, No way in hell I'm voting for the Packers. I absolutely loved watching Lebron and the Heat lose in the NBA Finals. It was awesome! They truly played like a team. Most bench players made a huge contribution for them winning it all. The road was very tough. Knocking off LA Lakers via sweep when they are looking for a 3peat. Miami heavily favorited as well. Getting chosen by everyone including me to be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. They proved all the doubters wrong!!
Castrol Edge clutch performance: Arian Foster-I just can't vote for a Redskins player. Hate them....Foster played better than the other guys anyways.
Best Sports Movie: The Fighter- never really heard of any of the other movies. I'd like to see that one eventually o.
Best coach: Rick Carlisle-The guy coached great during the playoffs managing minutes with Peja playing terrible, Dirk having the flu, letting Kidd get rest and JJ get his minutes. The guy coached great and he deserves it.
Best NFL player: Troy Polamalu-You have got to figure o Brady or Rodger will win. I dislike them both which is one of the reasons I refused to vote for either of them along with the fact I'm a Steelers fan. Hint:Polamalu is a Steeler!!
Best MLB player: Roy Halladay-The guy is clutch!! He has played great thus far. Bautista will probably get the nod and probably deserve it more, but I give it to Halladay.
Best Driver: Jimmie Johnson-Who are the other nominees?
Best NBA player: Dirk Nowitzki-his performance through the regular season made him an MVP candidate. His performance in the playoffs obviously leveled much higher and made him unguardable. I hated the guy through the first 3 rounds. The only guy I dislike more than Dirk at the time was Lebron. I had to root for one of the two teams I disliked the most. Kobe no longer is bringing in that same production. No way I'm voting for Lebron. Rose? Where was Rose in the Eastern Conference Finals? I like Durant better than Dirk, but I think we can all agree he played much better in the playoffs.
Best Fighter: Manny Pacquiao-Other than Mayweather I know nobody else.
Best Male Golfer: Rory-really? No matter who I vote for he will win anyways.
Best Male Tennis player: Novak Djokovic-I didn't vote for this guy, but he certainly deserves the award. I think I voted the first night the nominees were announced or a couple days later. I didn't know he owned both Nadal and Federer which I later found out after Wimbledon which I voted before of course. Vote for him!!
Best Female Tennis player: Serena Williams-Don't know anyone else.
Best Female College Athlete: Maya Moore-only one I knew or heard of.
Best Male College Athlete: I forget who I voted for. LOL! I don't remember.Probably Kemba Walker or Newton.
Best Male Action Sport Male: Shaun White: Who else is there?
Best MLS player: Landon Donovan-The only guy I have heard of.

I've defended Rondo big time because of his defense, passing skills, ect. At this point, after making top 5 by each position. He is #6 on my list due to his poor offense. It has got to improve. Here is my list of top 5 pgs right now:
1.CP3-best point guard in the game for the last couple of years. Defense is solid, passing is great, and offense is also a good asset. He is the complete package.
2.Derrick Rose-He is probably the best scoring point guard in the game today. Defense really doesn't help him all that much. That is something he needs to improve on along with getting his teammates involved offensively. That is one of the main reasons why he isn't the best today.
3.Westbrook-Some folks may think he is too high on my list, but I could argue that he is just as good as Rose. Not only offensively, but passing as well. During the regular season the guy avg over 8 assists per game along with a nice scoring total. Any of these top 3 guards I'd love to see in Orlando next season. The toughest part for Westbrook is his contract salary is only 4 million. I doubt Thunder would part ways. Rose is reigning MVP and the star of the Bulls. No way Bulls trade him for anybody other than Howard on the Magic. CP3 is on a team ran by the NBA.
4.D-Will-Can score 20 and get his teammates involved. The guy isn't that great defensively, but is a great point guard. Hopefully for Jersey he will stick around. Write it down now!! Kevin Love will be a member of the New Jersey Nets after next season.
5.Steve Nash-This may surprise some or it may not. Nash has been one of the best point guards for a fairly long time in the NBA. Two NBA MVPs to prove it. He still has it. Offense is still solid and is one of the best passers in the game.
Agree or disagree? Where does Rondo rank on your point guard list?

I decided to choose 3 teams from each conference. Teams of course that weren't in the top 4 of either conference last season.
Indiana Pacers-They have a bunch of cap room and they got a solid group coming back. I expect them to be back in the playoffs next season and a higher seed. Possibly 5th or 6th seed in the East. That is what I'm expecting.
New Jersey Nets-They have the money. Who knows who they bring in through FA? I expect them to fight for a final playoff spot.
New York Knicks of course-I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are in the top 4 teams in the East next season. They got the money to get whoever they want. Again I expect them to have one of the top 4 seeds in the East next season.
Memphis Grizzlies-I expect them to shine if they do indeed resign Gasol which I expect them to do. Top 4 seeded team next season. You better believe it! Write it down. I expect a decline from LA and SA next season meaning of course they won't do as good as they did last season. Possible better playoff success, but not regular season. By postseason success I'm not meaning winning a championship of course.
Utah Jazz-With two picks in the lottery early first round. Plus hearing about them shopping Devin Harris. I think this team could compete for a playoff spot next season.
Portland Trail Blazers-Expecting that they are healthy....LOL! No I think they will finish with a better record and finish as one of the top 5 teams in the West. Andre Miller looks like he will be on the way out.
What teams do you expect to improve after last season? That people should be looking out for?

Of course with all the talk about CP3 over the past year....the only possible scenario Orlando would be able to get CP3 is package Nelson and Bass would probably be the best deal without draft picks. I think they would find the trade a good one because Nelson and Bass are young players. They have 3 years locked up with them as well. With the possibility of David West walking they would like this deal even more. Have I gone crazy or do you believe that would be good enough to get CP3? CP3 for Bass and Nelson if not good enough possible draft picks. As for CP3 contract expiring. I figure CP3 would resign with Orlando if he got to play with Dwight Howard.
I'd love for the rumor to be true as well. Of course I'm meaning the Iggy for Hedo swap. It would be nice.
At this point the roster would look like this:
2.Possibly J-Rich or try a sign and trade with a team(most likely Bulls)/Redick/Stevenson maybe.
4.This basically depends on if Orlando could get a sign and trade deal with J-Rich. I know I might take a verbal beating for this, but Boozer wouldn't be that bad of an addition. Heard rumors about Boozer being on the market. Dwight and him are friends. It could lure him to stay in Orlando as well. If not sign and trade possibly address that in FA with MLE. If not try and trade for one. LA might trade Barnes back to Orlando for a draft pick or something even Ryan Anderson or Orton and a draft pick. Boozer/Ryan Anderson/Orton....hope LA trade Barnes back o. He was missed last season.
5.Dwight howard/Orton and possibly sign some guy from FA to min. contract.
Wouldn't that be awesome or what?
J-Rich or sign and trade hopefully/Stevenson/Redick
Boozer possibly in J-Rich deal/Ryan Anderson
Dwight Howard/Orton/someone to minimum contract
What do you think? Anything is possible right?
