Deserved praise and criticism week 10 2011

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Deserved praise:

1.Carson Palmer is back-Take it for what you want. He is back after winning his first game back as a starter I believe. Not only a win vs the Chargers, but now in first place of their division. Noteworthy:3 teams are behind them with a record of 4-5. Congrats to the Raiders....I wish them well going forward.

2.Tony Romo stellar-The best performance of the season in my opinion for Romo. Completed over 80% of his passes along with 3 TDs demolishing the Bills. A team that has fell a lot since their bye week. Not good coming off back to back blowouts. Dallas currently in 2nd place behind the Giants. 1 game back and I believe the division will be decided with the matchups when they play one another.

3.Tebow/Denver win 3/4-In case if you can't understand what I named this. Tebow and the Denver Broncos have won 3 out of their last 4 games. All with Tebow as the starting quarterback. All I can say is eat it haters. I'm glad Tebow and the Broncos are a success with him under center. Hope it continues for them and their fans. Now in 2nd place in their division behind Raiders. A month ago, no one would have thought this would happen.

4.Vote for Browns kicker-The pro bowl is coming up and we all can vote. I have to say you gotta vote for this guy. Phil Dawson is his name. I had to google it. The kicking game is the only way the Browns put up points. So, go vote for Dawson for the pro bowl.

5.Bears defense-Didn't watch the game, but I did see highlights for one of them going for a TD. Just heard that Bears D got 6 take aways. Deserved to be on the list!! Congrats to the Bears for getting back in your division.

Bonus:*John Skelton?-Got his first start vs the Eagles and threw for over 300 yards w/3 TDs. Impressive if you ask me including the fact the team came back in the 4th with 2 TDs. I think he may have stole the job away from Kolb. What do you think?

Deserved criticism:

1.Lions lose by a huge margin-A huge game for both the Lions and the Bears. One showed up to play. With a tough schedule ahead, it will be tough to make the playoffs. I'll be rooting for ya guys though. Prove the doubters wrong....it certianly will be tough!!

2.Bucs blown out-Bucs had the lead in their division after defeating the Saints. Unfortunately for them.....they lose back to back games. One to a division rival in the Saints and another to Texans. Texans have just been blowing out like every single team every week. They deserve some national spotlight!!

3.Baltimore Ravens had division-After with the division in their hands....they lose it today after loss to the Seahawks. I would not be surprised if they choke the division away. That would be hilarious!!

4.Bills offense went where?-I'm certain the Ryan brothers talked before this game about how to stop this offense, but come on. 5-2 start and losing two crucial games in a row. Both blowouts!! Gotta get back on track cuz the wildcard race is gonna be hard to snag.

5.Super Bowl Bound Falcons-They lose a huge division game at home vs the Saints today. I think that game will end up deciding the division. Saints, again....are my Super Bowl pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. It seems as if, every important game they lose.

*Bonus: Peyton Manning coach career-I think after his team went 0-10, I think it has hurt his coaching career in the long run. What do you think? Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.........STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Deserved praise and criticism week 9

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Deserved praise:

1.Dolphins get 1st W-Dolphins not only got their first W, but dominated the Chiefs. I give praise to the guys for showing their determination and heart in that victory. Congrats!!

2.Bengals 4th Q comebacks-Bengals have been winning games despite trailing in the fourth quarter which is impressive. Should be a good game next week.

3.Jets are back in it-After losing 3 straight games, Jets have found themselves winning consecutive games. Now they control their own destiny. They dominated the Bills! Next weeks matchup vs the Pats may decide which one of them makes the playoffs.

4.Broncos have another late comeback-Down 17-7 at half, but came back with their second half performance. Beating a division rival in the Oakland Raiders at their house is impressive. In the 3rd quarter, they scored 17 points and scored 14 in the 4th to clinch the victory. Everyone in the Broncos division lost this week, so they are still in it. 3-5 record as of now trailing 3 teams that have a record of 4-4.

5.49ers best record since Montana-The 49ers are now 7-1 leading their division by like 5 games right now. I'd pretty much claim they are a lock for a playoff spot at this point. Best record since Montana has been there is impressive!!

Deserved criticism:

1.Colts 0-9-Another week and another loss for the Colts. The only team now that hasn't won a game yet. Don't be banking on Luck because I figure he is heading back to school.

2.Redskins 4 straight losses-After starting 3-1 they lose 4 straight. Many had high hopes after that start, but now I think they will be out of the playoffs. Back to the bottom of the ladder in the NFC East.

3.Browns slow starts-It seems like every week the Browns can't score points early in the first quarter. With all the high expectations fans had after last season. They have not lived up to the hype. Hillis is injured again and it is doubtful he returns after losing a lot of respect in the locker room. Too many issues offensively to fix. No playoff hopes this year.

4.Rams choke-It looked to me like the Rams were gonna pull out an upset this week. Unfortunately, a special teams TD in OT ruined it. Leading all game long and losing it like that.....sucks!! Wish ya well Rams.

5.Titans game was in their grasp-After leading in the first half 17-7, the Titans can't bring offense out in the 2nd half. CJ rushed for like 50 yards in the first half, but got like 10 in the 2nd. They let this one slip away. It is gonna be tough now to make the playoffs with Texans playing very well and stacked teams in the AFC East and AFC North looking for a playoff spot.

Ravens @ Pittsburgh 2011 preview!!

Summary of the season thus far:If someone asked me after the Steelers lost to the Ravens...what game would be the most important to win? I think the obvious answer is simple.....week 9 game when Ravens visit Pittsburgh. Both teams are coming off victories, but the Steelers are currently on a 4 game winning streak. They played one helluva game Sunday and Ben is playing like an MVP right now. I heard analysts say this as well before you start calling me a homer. No player/team has played better in the month of October than Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'd like to call this a redemption game for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tomlin has voiced he hasn't forgotten the game nor has us Steeler fans. This go round, Suggs is talking that he owns Ben Roethlisberger. Now, we all know Pittsburgh's line is terrible and they have to double cover Ngata. Which is really why I don't respect his #s, but I would give Suggs the Defensive MVP thus far. His performance vs the Cardinals last week really led to a comeback by the Ravens. I couldn't believe he wasn't a candidate for it on NFL Live last night when they were giving the awards out. In any case, I believe Steelers will win this football game vs the Ravens.

Noteworthy: Raven fans laughed at me when I suggested it was a terrible time for Ravens to have a bye week @ w/e week they had theirs because I knew they were playing their best football at the time. I figured they would cool off. I would suggest they have after struggling vs the Cardinals and losing to the Jags.

Will Ravens/Steelers meet again in the playoffs?: I doubt these teams will face again in the playoffs. I find it highly unlikely that were to happen 3x out of the last 4 years. Would be cool though, but I find it doubtful.

Keys for a Steelers victory: Last go round, Steelers came out running the football and didn't have any success. Started passing when they knew Steelers had to. I suggest the Steelers mix it up to start the game. Don't run on 1st and 2nd down than pass on 3rd down. Mix it up a bit to confuse in my opinion, the best defense the first half of the season. Defensively: I suggest do what made the Steelers D successful last week. I heard on the AFC North blog that since 3 of the Steelers starting linebackers are likely out this week they may change to a 4-3 defense. Flacco doesn't scare me. Ray Rice is the man that led the team offensively week 1. He broke tackles and ran all over Pittsburgh's defense. He was also making catches through the air so, Rice has got to be stopped. Hopefully, Steelers can take a look at what Jags did to get him to fumble. Flacco just hasn't played well and I don't give a good crap what Suggs says. He isn't an elite qb. LOL!He is in the bottom 5 in comp%. Steelers will be bringing their A-game this go round. Better be ready cuz the Steelers are gonna punch you in the mouth.

Raven/Steeler rivlary over?: Everybody is asking why are the Steelers/Ravens rivalry ending so soon. Well, after thinking about it this past week, I think I can figure this out. Ok, we all know how big these games are between the Ravens vs Steelers. Having it earlier makes games vs the Brown and the Bengal  games more meaningful.

Final word: In my opinion, whoever wins this football game is without question....the best team in the AFC. I think both fan bases can agree on that.

Postgame 2011: Pats vs Steelers

Steelers beat the Patriots!! No one knows how much that means to me to be able to type that. Through the week leading up to the game, I saw Steeler posters not being confident. Some stating we should prepare for the worst. That isn't the kind of attitude I like to see which is why I decided to post "Countdown to Pats loss @Heinz Field is upon us!" No one really posting about the game really which is why I felt the need to post something about it. I always post a preview for a Steelers game weekly. "Brady owns the Steelers" was the theme this week for the media hyping the game. Some stating Steelers didn't have a chance. Steelers proved them critics wrong once again. I'm very proud to be able to say that. "Bad matchup for Pittsburgh" is the kind of thing I heard. Steelers kept Brady on the bench. 3 and outs defense got vs the Pats offense was great. It was thrilling and exciting throughout. The game I most looked forward to this season. The team I wanted the Steelers most to beat and they got the job done!! A W I've been wanting for a very long time. The win means a lot to me. One of the most meaningful wins happened today for Pittsburgh. Doubters, proving you wrong week, after week, after week. Don't write Pittsburgh off......you make yourself look foolish!!

I know I'm not well liked around the boards, but it doesn't bother me. I care way more about the Steelers winning football games and week in, week out, they prove they are the best team in the league. Not everyone agrees with that, but I believe in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Win or lose, I'm behind them. I'm not gonna post that "I expect a loss to the Pats this week." I have too much Steelers pride to do that. To sit here and claim that would be a slap in the face to that football team that I have rooted for all my life. That is something I'm very proud to say. I'd much rather trash talk week after week and look like a homer rather than ever say "I have doubts Pittsburgh will win a football game." I have faith in the Pittsburgh Steelers. I believe they can beat any team on any given day.  The win today really meant a lot. Praise is deserved on both sides of the football. Sacking Brady was probably the highlight of the game for me simply because last year, it felt like Steelers couldn't get him. I have passion for Steelers football. I care if they leave with a win or loss. At the end of the day, I don't want anyone to doubt the passion, love, respect, and the heart I have for Pittsburgh Steelers football.

Steelers are now on a 4 game win streak heading into a big game vs Baltimore. This win is by far the most important victory Steelers need throughout their schedule. I hope the Steelers go into the bye with the win streak intact. Pats, hope Steelers meet ya in the playoffs. Until then, good luck the rest of the way. Baltimore, it is redemption time!! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Deserved praise and criticism week 8 2011

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Deserved praise:

1.Rams get 1st W-Rams not only got their first W, but they defeated a team I believe will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl in the Saints. Just a huge win for the Rams after losing a lot of games straight. Everyones pick to win the NFC West, but not showing it. I didn't see this W coming, but it did. Congrats is well-deserved.

2.Bengals 5-2-I don't know if much know this, but quietly the Bengals have been having a successful season thus far. Top 4 defenses according to yardage going into week 8 featured all teams in the AFC North. After today's win, they are now 5-2. The last 3x the Bengals started out 5-2 they made the playoffs. It is noteworthy stuff along with praise. Wonder if AFC North has 3 teams in the playoffs? I figure an AFC East team will get in o.

3.Bills in 1st place-I never saw this coming. If you would have told me after week 8 the Bills would be in 1st place, I'd probably laughed at you. No disrespect intended, but not a lot of high expectations there. I did have them finishing 3rd in their division though that a Dolphins fan laughed about. In any case, they won in Toronto after 3 straight losses there. Blowout the Skins is impressive. Keep up the good work.

4.Lions-After losing 2 straight, media has been saying they question if they will make the playoffs. They won today vs the Denver Broncos. I hope you prove them wrong Lions. I have you beating Packers at some point. Get the job done! Figure, 49ers will face the Lions in the first round. I just got that feeling.

5.1st win in Ponder era-All Day led the team in receiving and rushing which to me is impressive. Rookie head to head matchup today was cool to see. 2-6 as of week 8. Praise is deserved this week cuz I picked against ya.

Deserved criticism:

1.Colts 0-8-Where is the heart? Do you want to win? First team to have 8 losses this season. All we hear about is Luck, but Luck has the option of returning to school this year that he may accept. All the hype surrounding him and he may not play. Week after week, same old Colts you see. They need a leader on the offensive side of the ball. Certainly Painter isn't capable of being that. That is what the Colts need right now more than anything.

2.Redskins blowout-Skins are cold after that hot start they had. I believe the team was 3-1 until these past couple of losses. I believe they lost 3 straight now. Not good when the division is so tight right now.

3.Dolphins choke-I was surprised by the lead Dolphins had early. I was switching back and forth between football games. Giants got back into it and in the 4th, they clinched the comeback victory. Giants are a much more veteran football team and know how to get it done late. Disappointing for Dolphin fans around the world after that tough loss.

4.Saints-After winning by a large margin vs the Colts last Sunday, they don't score in the first half. Maybe they took the Rams lightly or maybe we need to give credit to the Rams. Whatever the case, I figure Saints will bounce back with a W next week. Have no idea who they play, but they are one of the best football teams in the league without question.

5.Cowboys blowout loss-Picked the Cowboys to win this week, but they come out losing 24-0 thus far. I don't really care if I'm speaking too soon. LOL!

Countdown to Pats loss @Heinz Field is upon us...

Trash talk: I would normally type in the title "Patriots @ Steelers 2011 preview" like I do every week with Steelers opponents, but I'm not going to this week. I've placed bets on the Steelers this Sunday. I made a bet that if Steelers win, Pat fans would have to say Ben Roethlisberger is better than Tom Brady. If the Steelers would lose, I'd admit Belichick is a genius. Obvious win/lose situation for both parties. Willing to do the same here for any Pat fan is willing to accept. Several Pat fans who I'd like to accept include ZigZag, Sonny, dbldwn711, and whoever else is willing to accept it. I will make a thread after the Steelers/Patriots game if the Pats lose stating Bill Belichick is a genius. If the Steelers win, I make the thread and you'll just have to reply Big Ben Roethlisberger is better than Tom Brady. I think that is fair bet/deal don't ya think? Call me a homer all you want, but I want to show my Steelers pride. I believe in the Pittsburgh Steelers and I believe they can beat any team on any given day. I'll never bet or pick against the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm not a fan who lacks confidence in this football team. Willingness to hear the critics post game is worth it. I'd much rather be called an idiot any day of the week than have someone tell me I have no heart or passion for the team I believe is the best football team in the NFL! I welcome all criticism towards me. I'm ready for the Steelers/Pats war this Sunday @ Heinz Field. BRING IT ON!!

Preview:

I'll let Pat fans fill you in on the injury update, but I think it is doubtful for James Harrison to compete in the game Sunday. Ward, Hampton, Hoke, among others are probably/questionable. The spread has Pats as 3.5 favs as I saw on First Take today.

Everyone laughed when I stated the Steelers were gonna be on a winning streak after the Texans game. Do you critics bother to look at the schedule they have? In any case, I'm very happy Jags beat the Ravens Monday Night.  2 very important games ahead for Pittsburgh matchups include Baltimore and Cincy before the bye week. Hope the Steelers end this 3 game stretch with Ws. Love how the critics are silent with praise for Pittsburgh lately after bashing them earlier in the season claiming they are done. Including some Steeler fans in which I was very upset over. In any case, the defense has been playing a lot better with more motivation after that frustrating start. Woodly has had a lot of sacks to his resume this year in the previous 3 game stretch. Hope he brings the same this Sunday vs the Pats. Pass defense has been surprisingly been very good despite injury to Bryant McFadden. Rush defense has done a lot better as well despite injury to James Harrison. Hope the stretch continues of course. Running game this year has been disappointing for the most part. Keys to win the football is very simple: 1.Don't turnover the football, 2.put pressure on Brady, 3. time of possession, and 4.Ben and the passing offense have field day vs Pats pass defense. I'm sure Mike Wallace will have another 40+ reception this week as he has in the past 6 weeks.

Should be a great game! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be....STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Deserved praise and criticism week 7

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Deserved praise:

1.Jets-Biggest game last week where national attention was on it. Jets showed the world how good Rivers truly is in the clutch. Ball in his hands and he chokes the win away again. That stat sheet is lovely thus far. No one has been noticing the poor play because the poor matchups he has played against such as the Dolphins/Vikings/Chiefs and so on.

2.Texans very good-Another blowout victory vs a division opponent is very impressive. Texans has earned a lot of respect from me this year than in previous years. Do I expect them to win a playoff game? Doubt it, but it depends on who they face. If they play an AFC West team.....they'll win! I'll give you a preview whoever they play to say whether they win or lose or not. I don't see them going far in the playoffs, but they are a lot better than they were in previous years. I applaud them for that.

3.Jags-I thank you for that victory last night. It seems one week they are real good and the next week they stink. Gabbert needs some weapons o. Congrats is certainly deserved even though it wasn't a pretty football game.

4.Tebow-His performance in the first 3 quarters stunk of course, but he wasn't given a lot of oppurtunities to get the job done. How many quarterbacks are given just 8 pass attempts thru 3 quarters? Exactly.....I praise him for getting the job done with the game on the line. Rivers may need to look at the tape to be able to know how to play in the clutch. Accuracy certainly can improve....why all the bashing over it? Orton was one of the worst accurate passers in the league as well. Someone is blind by the passing yards he put up in McDaniels system.

5.Vikings-The game they put up against the Packers is something no one expected. Congrats on the effort you put in to that game. Came down to the final seconds. Praise is well-deserved.

Deserved crticism:

1.Raiders/qbs-Palmer and Boller looked really sharp in the highlights I saw. Made KC D look like they didn't miss Eric Berry or Charles.

2.Chargers 2 minute offense-I was flat out classic stuff. You got to see the leader of the offense lead his team down the field for a game winning TD. Sounds good doesn't it? Unfortunately, the man leading their offense choked away another victory letting the time go down, looking at Norv Turner for a play rather than have the intelligence to be able to call a play by himself. It was classic stuff, especially that last play where he threw the ball out of bounds. Giving up on his team so his stat sheet will look a lot better than it already does. That performance was almost as good as Tebow's!! LOL!

3.Lions/Falcons-Sounds of childish babies on both sides. I for one don't approve of one guy injuring a player, but as far as trash talking goes, I'm all for it. If you don't want the man to trash talk, don't give him a reason to be trash talking. Example: Don't let him get close to your qb, play better, and so on. Use it as motivation rather than going to media looking for someone to console you. No one is here to wipe tears off your eyes. Go tell the teacher about it for goodness sakes.....

4.Beck/Whitehurst-Your oppurtunity to start was given. You didn't take advantage of it which more likely than not doesn't secure you the job. These oppurtunities arn't given out every day. Whitehurst was given a chance to start because of T-Jax couldn't go. I thought Whitehurst was better, but obviously he proved me wrong. Same goes for Beck. Next year, these guys may be looking for jobs as a 3rd string qb.

5."Joe Cool"-What his boy Suggs calls him didn't show up period in the Jags game on Monday Night. He choked away the victory that was giftwrapped by the defense. Jags didn't even score a TD all game and the the Ravens lose. Now we are pointing at the coaching staff and not the players out there? Offensive coordinator probably lost confidence in Rice after those 2 fumbles last night. Obviously has a lot of confidence in Flacco's arm to get the job done. Flacco hasn't been playing well all year. Going into the ball game he had 32nd in comp% of 50%. That isn't good for a guy who is given more freedom to call plays.

Pittsburgh @ Cardinals week 7 2011 preview

I don't really think we should call this matchup a rematch of Super Bowl 43. Holmes, Warner, Boldin, and so on are no longer aboard.

I personally am confident that the Steelers will win this matchup by a huge margin. Kolb has shown how over-rated he truly is. Fitzgerald only has 2 TDs thus far. Kolb is an upgrade over Anderson, but he isn't that much better at all. His decision making is all the Steelers need. It is gonna be turnover city this week. Cardinals run game is probably the only concern. I believe Wells is one of the best in rushing TDs thus far. I hear on the injury report that Wallace and Polamalu will likely play. Aaron Smith and James Harrison is out. Hoke and Hampton are both on the injury report which isn't good. Stevie may get his first start this week. Woodley has been playing great which I don't think will change.

My concern isn't on the offensive side either. They have one of the worst defenses in the league, but it is noteworthy that Steelers former cornerback coach is their new defensive coordinator. I believe Steelers offense will be able to pull off the W. A lot of Steeler players are on the Cardinals which everyone jokes about. Consistancy is key and Fitzgerald may be a guy to control defensively, but the way his qb throws....no real concern. Should be an interesting ball game because Steelers arn't that solid on the West Coast. All I can say is, Cardinal fans will get a preview of a team that will be in Arizona in 2015! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.....STAY JEALOUS!!Cool
