Louisville adds offensive lineman "Nacho" Garcia

Charlie Strong may or may not be someone who orders nachos at a movie or ballgame but he did pick one up on the recruiting trail. Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) offensive lineman Abraham 'Nacho' Garcia became the latest Louisville commitment on Monday following a visit to the school over the weekend.

"Louisville's always been a school I've been watching," Garcia told CardinalSports.com. "This (visit) just puts a picture to the words that people have been telling me about it. I actually have a guy I go to school with whose dad played at Louisville. Bruce Armstrong's son (Nick) goes to our school. He's been up there before and he's told me about Louisville and how great a school it is. This visit just puts a picture to what he's been telling me."

The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder is a someone who will fill a position of need for the Cardinals along the line. Garcia also held offers from Florida, Marshall, South Florida and others but felt the situation at Louisville would allow him to succeed early on.

"The (coaches) were telling me and explaining to me about the program," Garcia said. "It is a young team and they are trying to still learn. They have some injured guys on the offensive line and had to start one freshman and change a defensive guy to an offensive guy. They are really adjusting right now."

Garcia is the 16th commitment for Strong and the Cardinals' class of 2012 and the fifth offensive lineman among the group.

"Nacho proves to be a massive youngster with long arms, relatively quick feet, and enormous strength," analyst Tom Lemming said of Garcia. "He dominates the point of attack and at times has trouble cutting off edge rushers but can bend his knees and shows decent lateral movement. Needs to watch his weight but the technique, temperament and size are certainly there."

8/29 Recruiting Roundup

The high school season has already started and this week brings the start of the college football season. As a result, here's a supersized roundup.

MaxPreps Top 100 for 2012 Offer Update

There's still over a month to go before coaches hit the road and begin to see recruits up close and personal in the May Evaluation period.
