Georgia loses one WR, gains another

You win some, you lose some. The old saying certainly applies to the recruiting game and, in the case of Georgia, applied over the weekend. The Bulldogs lost one wide receiver commitment in Goose Creek (S.C.) 2013 wide receiver Tramel Terry and gained one in Lithonia (Ga.) wide out Blake Tibbs.

“Yeah, I pretty much rushed my decision,” Terry told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I don’t want to be committed to Georgia unless I’m 100 percent in. I have other schools I’m looking at. Georgia is still on top of my list. I just feel like I wasn’t committed even when I was, so it was time to go ahead and do this.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Terry was one of three top 2013 prospects to commit at Georgia's summer camp in July. Though the school is still under consideration, in-state programs South Carolina and Clemson are coming on strong in the recruiting process.

“I feel the same way about Clemson as I do South Carolina," he said. "It’s out in the middle of nowhere but everybody treats each other like family there. It’s real cool.”

Tibbs' commitment softens the blow and fills a more immediate need since he's in the class of 2012. He held offers from North Carolina and Kentucky among others.

“I watched college football all day on Saturday, started thinking about recruiting, and UGA kept popping up in my head,” Tibbs told the AJC. “I was thinking about all the boys in my area that Georgia is recruiting … and that if we all go down to Georgia together, we can make an impact there.”

The pair's decisions give Mark Richt 15 commitments for the class of 2012 and three in the class of 2013.
