South Carolina landed two big time players for this year and next with commitments from Stone Mountain (Ga.) Army All-American running back Mike Davis and 2013 offensive tackle D.J. Park over the weekend.
"You know, some people don't know, South Carolina stayed on me all the time - even when I was committed to Florida," Davis told Rivals. "I actually was silently committed. I did it [not long] after I de-committed from Florida. My family already knew about it. Everyone is happy for me. My whole family is happy."
The 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back also seriously considered Georgia and Tennessee after decommitting from Florida. Davis is ranked as the 11th-best tailback in the country by Maxpreps and 157th overall in the class of 2012. He will be joined by one of the top in-state juniors who could be blocking for him soon.
"I just wanted to go ahead and do it," Park said. "I just like being up there. It's close to home and my family can some watch me play."
Davis rushed for 1,924 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior and becomes the 24th commitment for the class of 2012. Park becomes the first pledge for the class of 2013 and is one of Maxpreps top juniors.
