It's been a tumultuous year for the Miami program but through it all, Al Golden has still managed to stick to the plan and recruit really well. He added another commitment Monday to help shore up the offensive line in Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) guard Danny Isidora.
"I just felt like it is home and the right place for me," Isidora told 247Sports. "I felt the most comfortable at Miami and I knew that is where I wanted to play my college football."
An interior presence at 6-foot-3, 320-pounds, Isidora also held scholarship offers from Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina and West Virginia among others. Though the Hurricanes are still in the midst of an NCAA investigation, Golden's recently announced contract extension that will keep him in Coral Gables until well after Isidora graduates contributed to making a decision this week.
"The Miami coaches kept telling me that there was nothing to be worried about," he said. "Once coach Golden announced he was staying at Miami for a long time, I knew that I had nothing to be worried about."
Isidora becomes the 28th commitment for Miami's class of 2012, several of whom will enroll early. He is just the third offensive lineman however.
"An explosive OL, he has good initial punch, shows good awareness, and is very strong in the upper body, which he uses to knock pass rushers off-balance," analyst Tom Lemming says. "He moves his feet well for a 320 pounder and gets good leverage."
