Caleb Stacey stays closer to home, commits to UC

Posted by Bryan Fischer

There are plenty of factors that go into a recruit making a commitment and distance from home is almost always near the top of the list. Cincinnati (Ohio) offensive lineman Caleb Stacey kept thinking about that in the months since pledging to Michigan, enough that he flipped to nearby Cincinnati on Saturday.

"Before it gets out from anyone but me I have decided to decommit from Michigan to stay home and play ball at the University of Cincinnati," Stacey tweeted.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder will likely wind up at guard in college and was lightly recruited after committing to the Wolverines in March.

"Very athletic for a 285 pounder, he has a great work ethic," analyst Tom Lemming said of Stacey. "He's as intense as they come, shows the ability to slide outside to cut off edge rushers, and dominates as a run blocker. Not super strong but very intense and tough."

Stacey becomes the 32 commitment in Cincinnati's class of 2012. His high school career isn't quite done yet as he will play in the International Bowl on CBS Sports Network, which takes place on Signing Day this year.
