USF adds defensive back Jarvis McCall

Posted by Bryan Fischer

Things are going quite well for Skip Holtz' program down in Tampa. USF knocked off Notre Dame a few weeks ago and are ranked in the top 25 heading into their game against Florida A&M this week. Bulls fans had another dose of good news over the weekend as Seffner (Fla.) defensive back Jarvis McCall committed to the team on Saturday.

"They look like they play a lot of man (coverage) and zone schemes and all that," McCall told USFBullsEye.com. "I think I'm pretty good with all that."

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is a local product, going to Tampa area power Armwood High School. He held offers from Indiana, UCF, Vanderbilt and others but selected USF after taking in their most recent game against Ball State.

"I had to chance to speak with (the USF coaching staff) before the game," he said. "They were excited. I told coach Skip Holtz and he told the rest of the coaches came and congratulated me and said thanks and all that."

McCall is USF's 10th commitment for the class of 2012 and third cornerback headed there next year.

The team will be without Florida-bound running back Matt Jones due to an injury. Gorman has several uncommitted recruits leading the charge, including offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley and Ron Scoggins and running back Shaq Powell.

South Panola vs. Hoover

Keep an eye on: Panola is powered by Ole Miss commits Issac Gross and Temario Strong on the defensive line.

Cedar Hill vs. Allen

Keep an eye on: For Cedar Hill, offensive lineman Aderius Epps is headed to Kansas State next year and defensive end David Harris is drawing some interest. Allen has a trio of commits leading the top five team with quarterback Alec Morris (Alabama), running back Jonathan Williams (Missouri) and linebacker Thaddeus LaGrone (Baylor).
