Although the verbal commitments for the class of 2012 are well under way this late in March, it took until Saturday evening for the class of 2011 to finally wrap up. Well over a month after Signing Day, Hollywood (Fla.) quarterback Jerrard Randall ended up signing his letter of intent with LSU, the school confirmed.
The former Oregon commitment started looking elsewhere close to Signing Day after he did not make a qualifying test score for the school. He reopened his recruitment and since made the necessary test score to enroll with the Tigers.
"I just signed with LSU...like right now. It is a done deal," Randall told Rivals. "I wanted to find a place I could call home and LSU is that place for me."
Randall was MaxPreps 18th-ranked dual-threat quarterback for last year's class and held scholarship offers from Miami, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and others.
"After I got my score, Oregon told me they didn't have a spot for me and I started looking around at schools," he said. "I started looking around at schools and LSU was one of the first that contacted my high school coach."
Randall is LSU's 23 signee and the third quarterback for the class of 2011, joining Stephen Rivers and junior college transfer Zach Mettenberger.
