Although their in-state rival has received plenty of attention, Auburn has done a very good job on the recruiting trail early in the process and the Tigers added to their class on Saturday with the commitment of Pinson (Ala.) wide receiver Earnest Robinson.
“I committed today,” Robinson told 247Sports. “I’m coming down to Auburn and going to be part of the family. I’m an Auburn Tiger now."
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder held offers from Alabama, Florida State and Oregon among others and was one of the most productive receivers in the state last year. Robinson's relationship with Auburn assistant Trooper Taylor and other staff members was one of the key reasons he is staying close to home however.
“I really love Troop He’s like my family, like my dad," the wide out said. "He’ll take care of me and be on me hard about my education. (Coach Tommy) Thigpen is just like my dad. He’s cool, laid back. I can talk to them about anything."
Robinson's commitment bumps Auburn's class of 2013 up to four and follows on the heels of landing punter Jimmy Hutchinson earlier in the week. He is the first offensive player to commit since the hiring of offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler and caught 12 touchdowns on just 30 catches last season as a junior.
