3/8 Recruiting Roundup

Posted by Bryan Fischer

Tons of links headed your way in the roundup today. Already appears to be a busy Tuesday in the recruiting world.

- Recruiting services have been thrust to the forefront of the recruiting world with the issues at Oregon. The Seattle Times examined Washington's use of them and how much several of them cost.

- Wide receiver Dwayne Stanford picked up a pair of big offers from USC and Louisville.

- Linebacker Joe Bolden added an N.C. State offer.

- Defensive back Samuel Green added an offer from nearby USF.

- Three Palm Beach County offensive linemen are being recruited by major programs across the country.

- Michigan has scheduled several players to come in for an unofficial visit over the upcoming weeks, including top offensive lineman Dan Voltz.

- More on Alabama commit Brandon Greene. Two other Georgia players, James DeLoach and Jonathan Taylor, are being recruited by several BCS conference schools.

Alabama grabs Georgia offensive lineman

Posted by Bryan Fischer

Roll Tide or Tide Rolling? Take your pick on the recruiting trail because recruits are saying the former and Alabama is doing the latter with the class of 2012.

Their latest commitment comes from Ellenwood (Ga.) offensive tackle Brandon Greene, who made his verbal commitment Saturday afternoon at Alabama's Junior Day.

"I talked to Brandon today and he told me that is where he wanted to go and he made his commitment," Greene's high school coach Ray Bonner told BamaOnLine.com. "I don't think he wanted to fool around a lot with making a decision. He has visited Alabama before and fell in love with it, and today I think just put it over the top."

The 6-foot-6, 300 pound tackle did not play football last season and instead focused on basketball. He is expected to play football his senior year.

"He is a great athlete that wanted to play basketball before he figured out football is his calling," said Bonner. "There are plenty of 6-foot-6 kids playing basketball right now, but not a lot playing football. Basketball actually helped him with his footwork and losing weight. He had some bad weight before, and now it doesn't look like there is an ounce of fat on him.

Greene is the Tide's 10th commitment for the class of 2012 and first on the offensive line.
